About your role:

As a Software Development Engineering Manager, you will lead software engineering teams in building scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions that support critical business outcomes. You will work with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define technical direction, drive execution, and strengthen operational excellence in dynamic environments. Your work will help improve delivery performance, advance technical quality, and build strong engineering capability across the team.

What you'll do:

  • Lead, hire, develop, and manage a team of 5 to 10+ software engineers, including goal setting, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Drive end-to-end program delivery by aligning engineering execution with business priorities, defining milestones, and managing resource and capacity planning across the team.
  • Own and influence system architecture, technical roadmaps, scalability planning, code quality practices, and operational excellence across software development initiatives.
  • Remain hands-on in technical discussions and engineering execution, providing practical guidance that helps the team deliver measurable outcomes in dynamic and challenging environments.
  • Foster a high-performing engineering culture by setting clear expectations, promoting accountability, and encouraging continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into technical plans, delivery priorities, and execution frameworks.
  • Oversee incident management, system reliability, service health, and continuous delivery metrics to improve operational readiness and engineering performance.
  • Drive engineering best practices across architecture reviews, code reviews, release processes, testing strategies, and production readiness.
  • Support resolution of complex delivery and production issues through technical escalation, prioritization, and coordination across teams.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, software development, or related technical disciplines building and supporting enterprise applications or services.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and building high-performing engineering organizations.
  • Experience leading architecture, technical roadmaps, scalability efforts, code quality initiatives, and operational excellence practices in software engineering environments.
  • Experience driving program delivery, milestone planning, stakeholder alignment, and resource or capacity planning across multiple engineering workstreams.
  • Experience overseeing incident management, system reliability, service performance, and continuous delivery metrics in production environments.
  • Experience partnering with business and product stakeholders to align technical execution with business outcomes and delivery priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience in financial services, payments, or other high-availability regulated environments.
  • Experience leading teams through cloud modernization, distributed systems delivery, or platform engineering transformation.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery frameworks.
  • Experience building engineering cultures focused on accountability, quality, and customer outcomes.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
