Job Description
Location: Kuala Lumpur

Why join Rolls-Royce?
At Rolls-Royce we are proud to be a business that has truly helped to shape the modern world and are committed to always being a force for progress; powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere.
By joining Rolls-Royce, you'll have the opportunity to work on world-class solutions, supported by a culture that believes individuality is our greatest strength, and all perspectives, experiences and backgrounds help us innovate and enable our high-performance culture.
Site Manager will lead the on-site execution of the Rolls-Royce generator package for hyperscale data centre projects in Malaysia, from equipment arrival through installation, commissioning (L1–L6) and site handover. Based full time on site, you are Rolls-Royce's lead on the ground for safe, compliant, quality work to the site schedule.
What you will be doing:
Site planning and mobilisation
- Implement the Project Manager's execution plan on site. Prepare and obtain approval for site method statements, HIRARC, lift plans and permit-to-work requirements.
- Conduct site readiness surveys before dispatching equipment and people, checking plinths, cable routes, fuel and exhaust paths, crane access and laydown areas.
- Break the Project Manager's master programme into a two- to three-week site look-ahead, and plan daily manpower, equipment and tools.
- Set up and maintain the Rolls-Royce site area, including laydown, secure storage, site facilities, and preservation of delivered equipment until installation.
Delivery and installation
- Supervise offloading and rigging, and carry out material receiving inspection, raising NCRs where needed.
- Direct installation of generator sets, enclosures, fuel systems (day and bulk tanks), exhaust and aftertreatment, cooling and controls.
- Lead installation subcontractors, allocating daily work and enforcing quality through ITPs and hold points.
- Run daily coordination meetings with subcontractors and attend the main contractor's site coordination meetings.
- Coordinate daily site interfaces with the main contractor and other packages, including MV/LV and paralleling switchgear, BMS/EPMS, fire protection and civil works. Raise site technical queries (RFIs) and track them to closure.
- Supervise mechanical completion and pre-commissioning checks, and witness inspections and tests at hold points.
Commissioning (L1–L6) and handover
- Plan and lead Rolls-Royce commissioning activities with the client's commissioning authority: L1 FAT, L2 receipt inspection, L3 pre-functional checks, L4 start-up and load bank testing, L5 integrated systems testing, and L6 operational readiness.
- Control energisation, LOTO and commissioning permits, and ensure calibrated test equipment and competent persons are in place.
- Track and close issues and snags in the client's systems (e.g. Procore, ACC, CxAlloy) to meet each level's gate criteria.
- Compile site handover records (as-built mark-ups, ITPs, test and commissioning records) for the Project Manager's handover package. Deliver operator training on site, close punch lists, hand over to the service team and record lessons learned.
HSE and regulatory compliance
- Drive a zero-harm culture through toolbox talks, safety walks, incident reporting and control of high-risk work (heavy lifts, work at height, hot work, energisation, fuel handling).
- Hold authority to stop unsafe work and lead site incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994 (as amended), DOSH (JKKP) requirements including valid certificates for cranes and lifting equipment, CIDB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (competent persons), Bomba (fuel storage), DOE (emissions and noise), and client and Rolls-Royce HSE standards.
Stakeholder coordination, reporting and team leadership
- Act as Rolls-Royce's day-to-day contact for the client's site team, main contractor and commissioning authority, escalating contractual and commercial matters to the Project Manager.
- Keep daily site diaries, manpower records and photo progress records, and report site progress, risks and the look-ahead to the Project Manager weekly.
- Record site changes, instructions, delays, additional work and subcontractor progress as supporting records for the Project Manager.
- Lead and develop the site team (supervisors, commissioning engineers, technicians and subcontractors) and build local capability.
Position Requirement:
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in power generation, data centres, critical facilities, EPC, or industrial projects.
- Proven experience leading the installation, testing, and commissioning of generator (genset) systems.
- Strong knowledge of data centre commissioning processes (L1-L6) and mission-critical infrastructure.
- Experience managing site teams of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Client-facing experience with the ability to lead site meetings, coordinate stakeholders, and work effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with LV/MV systems, fuel systems, BMS/EPMS, and commissioning activities.
- Strong understanding of site safety requirements, permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, communication, and reporting skills.
- Willing to be based on-site and travel extensively within Malaysia, particularly Selangor and Johor.
- Flexible to work extended hours, weekends, and public holidays as required by project schedules.
- Prior experience in hyperscale data centres and similar power generation products will be highly advantageous.
