Position overview
The Senior System Engineer is responsible for driving system-level quality across autonomous vehicle software releases by connecting engineering development, validation, field operations, and release management. This role goes beyond issue investigation to proactively assess release risk, define validation strategies, measure product quality, and improve engineering decision-making through data-driven insights.
Role responsibilities
System-Level Ownership
Own system-level quality across multiple module interface and other software components.
Understand cross-component interactions and their impact on vehicle behavior and release quality.
Influence engineering priorities using system-level analysis and field data.
Advanced System Investigation
Lead complex investigations across multiple software modules and able to narrow down the issue to the key modules.
Develop and maintain Common Failure Mode frameworks to improve issue classification and root cause analysis.
Work closely with engineering teams to drive timely resolution of critical issues and tracking the fixes.
Recommend simulation scenarios, field validation and regression coverage for features.
Improve release confidence through measurable validation objectives.
Release Quality & Metrics
Own release quality reporting across software versions.
Assess the potential impact of new software features, pull requests, firmware updates and system changes before release.
Identify high-risk behaviors and recommend validation priorities.
Summarize key improvements, known issues, outstanding risks and product-impacting trends.
Design KPIs and dashboards to evaluate feature performance, system stability and operational productivity
Use logs, metrics, and field data to diagnose issues and guide improvements
Required experience
Strong systems thinking and ability to understand complex integrated software systems.
Experience in system debugging, field issue investigation, software validation or system integration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, debugging mindset.
Familiarity with data pipelines, data ingestion, and daily data processing.
Experience working across cross-functional engineering teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Experience
Robotics , Autonomous Vehicles, or other related systems.
Release management, validation strategy or field reliability.
Project management experience is a bonus.
FMEA/Common Failure Mode Analysis.
SQL, Python, Jira or data visualization tools.
