Position Summary:
The Senior Structuring Analyst will support the evaluation, structuring, approval and ongoing financial analysis of renewable energy projects within a regulated utility environment. This role is position in the Regulated Renewables Development team, and will be responsible for building and maintaining project financial models, evaluating and summarizing model outputs, running scenario analyses, and supporting internal transaction approvals. The role will also contribute to business unit financial planning and analysis, while having the opportunity to work cross functionally to support overall company objectives. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial modeling skills, attention to details, and a growing understanding of the renewable energy and utility markets.
Responsibilities:
Build, update and maintain financial models for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hybrid energy investments.
Evaluate project economics, including cash flows, capital costs, operating costs, tax assumptions, revenue requirements, customer impacts, and other financial drivers relevant to regulated utility decision-making.
Review model outputs for accuracy, reasonableness, and consistency with approved assumptions; complete sensitivities and scenario analyses to evaluate project cost competitiveness, and key value drivers under changing assumptions.
Support internal transaction approvals by preparing financial analyses, summaries, business cases, and presentation materials for management review.
Assist in evaluating project alternatives, including project acquisition, equipment procurement options, and capital deployment considerations.
Perform business unit financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, long-range planning, and performance reporting.
Track and explain changes in project financial performance, including cost movements and schedule impacts.
Prepare clear, concise financial materials for internal stakeholders, including executive summaries, approval memos, dashboards, and recurring financial reports.
Responsible for staying abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
Required/Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Engineering
In addition to required degree, three (3) or more years related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Advanced Degree in Business, or Energy
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience in renewable energy, regulated utilities, power generation, project finance, corporate finance, or infrastructure investment analysis.
Knowledge of renewable energy project economics, including capital cost estimates, production forecasts, operating expenses, tax incentives, interconnection costs, and transmission-related considerations.
Experience with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, or business unit financial planning and analysis
Working Conditions
Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way. Employees are expected to report to their assigned Duke Energy facility as required and directed by their manager, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek.
