Abbott Diabetes Care’s new site, in Kilkenny, is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems.

What You'll Do

We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialist IT Business Analyst to join our team and play a critical role in shaping and delivering strategic technology initiatives that drive business success . As a Senior Specialist IT Business Analyst, you will serve as a trusted partner between business stakeholders and technical teams, leading the analysis and design of complex system solutions including Digital Manufacturing, MES, IIoT, Analytics & AI, Automation, Cloud Platforms, Cybersecurity, and ERP Modernisation to improve operational efficiency, enhance business performance, and create long-term value.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical professional who thrives on collaborating with stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions, and influencing the development of enterprise systems that make a real impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with business users and stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate requirements into effective technology solutions.

  • Lead complex analyses to define system scope, objectives, and business requirements.

  • Evaluate existing processes, workflows, models, and systems to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and assess solution options to support business decision-making.

  • Develop detailed business, functional, and system specifications that guide successful solution delivery.

  • Estimate costs, evaluate resource requirements, and contribute to project planning and prioritization activities.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical and user documentation.

  • Analyse and resolve system logic issues, ensuring optimal system performance and user experience.

  • Leverage industry-standard methodologies and tools, including CASE tools where applicable.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and knowledge sharing to less experienced analysts and project team members.

  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and sustainable business solutions.

Education and Experience

  • University Degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Systems, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, IT Solutions Delivery, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analysing, and documenting complex business and system requirements.

  • Proven ability to work with stakeholders at multiple levels to identify and deliver business value.

  • Experience developing detailed functional and technical specifications.

  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycles, business processes, and enterprise applications.

  • Experience with GxP, data integrity, and systems validation.

  • Experience with vendor and system integrator management.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and related digital/IT technologies (MES, LIMS, ERP integration, data platforms).

  • Experience contributing to project planning, effort estimation, and solution design activities.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
