Travelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Guidewire BillingCenter, to join our organization as we grow and transform our billing technology landscape. We are looking for a Guidewire BillingCenter engineer with strong integration development and configuration experience. The individual will complete advanced, end-to-end engineering tasks within Guidewire BillingCenter and related integrations, including designing, developing, configuring, analyzing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing solutions based on user or system specifications. The individual will also consult with users and partners to define functional and technical specifications for Guidewire BillingCenter, manage the effective use of resources, act as a subject matter expert for BillingCenter and associated services, leverage deep Guidewire and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex billing modernization initiatives, actively participate in the design and development process, and provide technical leadership to the broader Guidewire delivery team. The role also includes working with business and technical teams to clarify requirements, investigate defects, and deliver reliable solutions, and it requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand, visible environment across multiple teams.

What Will You Do?

  • Perform complex analysis, advanced level design and configuration, and develop functionality within Guidewire BillingCenter for high visibility, high impact initiatives.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support multiple BillingCenter functional areas.
  • Take the lead on designing and implementing solutions for moderately complex, loosely scoped billing and payments problems aligned with team and business goals.
  • Serve as a Technical Lead on key initiatives, delivering efforts both independently and by leading other team members.
  • Play a key role in a large 2027 transformation program, migrating from an in-house, mainframe-based billing platform to Guidewire BillingCenter.
  • Lead investigation, diagnosis, and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents within BillingCenter and related integrations, while working with business and technical teams to clarify requirements.
  • Act as a technology advocate, identifying opportunities to leverage Guidewire capabilities, cloud technologies, and, where applicable, AI to improve billing processes and business outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship on Guidewire BillingCenter and modern engineering practices while fostering a collaborative, Agile team environment.
  • Apply knowledge of Guidewire events, batch processing, and integration patterns, as well as current industry and cloud trends, to design and deliver effective solutions.
  • Seek opportunities to continuously expand your technical knowledge of Guidewire, AWS, and Agile delivery practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Experience with AWS (or another major cloud provider), including designing, deploying, or supporting cloud-hosted applications and integrations.
    • Experience with Java and/or GOSU for Guidewire development.
    • Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI/ML capabilities and how they can be applied to billing or financial operations.
