About this Senior Risk & Compliance Officer - AML/CTF role at Quality People
Our client URGENTLY requires a Senior Risk & Compliance Officer - AML/CTF for a permanent role in Sydney.
The Senior Risk & Compliance Officer - AML/CTF is a newly created, hands-on role for a self-starter who will take ownership of local risk and compliance obligations. You will be a key member of the global risk function, ensuring the firm maintains the highest standards of regulatory adherence while acting as a trusted adviser to partners and staff. The role involves deep subject matter expertise in Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) obligations, managing AUSTRAC reporting, and conducting ISO 27001 risk and compliance checks. You will be responsible for internally educating stakeholders, translating complex regulatory requirements into plain English, and driving the risk and compliance strategy for the Sydney office.
Skills and Experience required include:
- 4–8 years experience in a risk, compliance, or legal environment, preferably within a law firm or professional services sector.
- Deep subject matter expertise in AML/CTF obligations, including practical experience with AUSTRAC reporting.
- Proven ability to conduct and manage ISO 27001 risk and compliance checks.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into plain English for non-specialist internal stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, compliance, risk management, or a related discipline would be highly regarded.
- Australian Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance.
