This role helps ensure revenue processes are accurate, compliant, scalable, and aligned to the company’s growth objectives.
This position supports the review and approval of complex revenue arrangements, including multi-element contracts and non-standard commercial terms, to ensure full compliance with ASC 606. As a trusted business partner, the Senior Revenue Accountant works closely with Sales, Professional Services, Legal, Deal Desk, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical guidance on deal structure and the financial implications of customer contracts.
Operating in a global environment, this role partners with teams across regions to drive operational consistency, improve processes, and support predictable, profitable growth.
Main Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue recognition and advise stakeholders on the application of ASC 606 across complex customer arrangements, contract modifications, and non-standard deal structures.
Review and analyze complex customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment and document technical accounting conclusions.
Own key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close process, including reconciliations, revenue analytics, forecasting support, reserve calculations, flux analysis, and management reporting.
Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, Customer Success, and Operations teams to ensure accurate contract setup, revenue forecasting, and financial reporting.
Identify revenue recognition risks, operational inefficiencies, and control gaps, and drive process improvements to enhance scalability and compliance.
Prepare and review revenue-related schedules and disclosures supporting internal and external financial reporting requirements.
Lead revenue accounting initiatives, including system implementations, process automation, ERP enhancements, and integration projects.
Collaborate with business and technology partners to define system requirements, evaluate impacts to accounting processes, and ensure alignment with company accounting policies.
Execute and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), validation activities, and change management efforts for new system implementations and enhancements.
Support internal and external audits by providing technical accounting support, maintaining SOX controls, and ensuring compliance with corporate policies and US GAAP.
Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on revenue accounting processes, controls, and best practices.
Desired Skills and Experience
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2-4 years focused on revenue accounting within a SaaS, software, subscription-based, or technology company.
Strong understanding and practical application of ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance, including experience evaluating complex contractual arrangements and multi-element transactions.
Public accounting experience and/or experience at a publicly traded company strongly preferred.
CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience owning components of the monthly and quarterly close process with minimal supervision.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reconciliation techniques.
Strong experience with NetSuite Advanced Revenue Management in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment is required.
Experience with RevPro, Salesforce CRM, Power BI, or similar financial systems and reporting tools preferred.
Experience supporting ERP, revenue system implementations, integrations, or process automation initiatives.
Proven ability to partner effectively across functions and influence stakeholders on accounting and process-related decisions.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
