About this Senior Product Manager - Banking role at FairMoney

FairMoney · Onsite · Lagos, Lagos, Nigeria

FairMoney is a pioneering mobile banking institution building financial services for emerging markets. Founded in 2017 and operating primarily in Nigeria, we’ve raised nearly €50 million from global investors including Tiger Global, DST, and Flourish Ventures. What began as a digital microcredit app is today a full suite of financial products - current accounts, savings, debit cards, transfers, bill payments, and POS solutions for merchants and agents. Our team spans over 27 nationalities, united by a mission to reshape financial services for underserved communities.

Role Overview
As a Senior Product Manager in our Banking division, you will own the strategy and roadmap for products at the heart of how millions of Nigerians move and manage their money. You will also be the voice of the Nigerian customer inside the product org - translating a deep, first-hand understanding of local financial behaviour into products that feel effortless and trustworthy. This role demands strong product craft and genuine proximity to the Nigerian customer: how they pay, save, and bank, and where today’s experiences fall short.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Develop a clear, compelling strategy for your banking products that supports FairMoney’s objectives, and prioritise market opportunities to stay competitive in Nigeria’s fast-moving landscape. Partner with engineering to shape the scalability and reliability of the platform that powers them.
  • Voice of the Nigerian Customer: Be the team’s deepest source of truth on Nigerian customer needs, behaviours, and pain points — bringing local market insight (competitor moves, trust and fraud concerns, pricing and network realities) into every roadmap and design decision.
  • Roadmap Management: Work with Engineering, Growth, Design, Data Science, Risk, Compliance, and Operations to build and continuously refine an achievable roadmap, and brutally prioritise against agreed goals.
  • Insights & Analysis: Use market research and data-driven insight to make informed product decisions, enhance user experiences, and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Development & Launch: Own the product lifecycle end to end, from concept to launch, ensuring quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance - delivered on time and on budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field; a Master’s is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Product Manager, with hands-on experience building one or more banking / payments products like transfers (strongly preferred), cards, bill payments, wallets, or accounts preferably in fintech.
  • Deep first-hand understanding of the Nigerian customer and local financial ecosystem is required — how Nigerians pay, transfer, and bank, and the trust, pricing, fraud, and reliability factors behind their choices.
  • Proven track record developing and launching successful fintech products at scale.
  • Strong analytical, data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset with a KPI-oriented approach.
  • Experience at a leading Nigerian fintech or bank, and with platform products, is a strong advantage.

Join FairMoney and help revolutionise financial services in Africa. If you know the Nigerian customer inside out and have a track record of driving product success in banking or payments, we’d love to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay.
  • Paid annual leave.
  • A network of talented colleagues.

Recruitment Process

  • HR Screening-30 minutes
  • Technical interview with the product team: 60 minutes.
  • Assignment (takeaway).
  • Final interview with Chief Product Officer: 60 minutes.
