About this Senior Product Designer / Design Lead role at Andgo Systems
Engagement: Full-time, permanent | Start: As soon as possible | Reports to: VP of Product, with design direction from our fractional Design Lead | Direct Reports: Associate Product Designer | Location: Remote in Canada, with Central/Mountain time overlap and occasional travel for customer discovery
About the role
Andgo builds workforce management software for organizations where staffing is operational and time-critical. Our primary users are schedulers and clinical managers in health systems, filling shifts under pressure, often at shift change and often early in the morning. Good design here is measured by how quickly and reliably they get that work done.
We are investing in the next generation of Andgo as an AI-first platform, and need a senior designer who can step in immediately and keep it moving. You'll work day-to-day with the Product Manager and engineers, reporting to the VP of Product.
What you'll be doing
Product design
- Pick up design work in flight: get up to speed on decisions to date and keep delivery on pace.
- Lead design for new premium, AI-first product areas, as well as our existing platform.
- Lead end-to-end design initiatives for the AI-first platform, while continuing to advance and refine our core platform.
- Rethink existing workflows to remove friction for frontline and back-office users.
- Design how AI shows up for users: confidence, errors, and how a scheduler sees and overrides what the system decided.
- Work in an AI-assisted development workflow (Figma connected to AI coding tools via MCP) so design intent carries through to build.
Design craft
- Think in systems: design flows, states and interaction patterns that hold together across the product.
- Apply strong visual design fundamentals.
- Make pragmatic calls: know when a design is ready to ship and when it needs more work, and make the tradeoff clear to the team.
- Bring Product, Engineering and stakeholders along through clear rationale, prototypes and evidence.
Design leadership
- Set the direction for Andgo's product experience and make it concrete enough to design against.
- Define and maintain UX principles, AI-UX principles and the standards and patterns the product is built from.
- Guide our design system so it scales as the platform grows.
- Run design review so quality holds across product areas.
- Shape how design work flows into the delivery cycle, so design moves at the pace of delivery and standards show up in engineering workflows.
People leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop our associate product designer: set expectations, give regular feedback and grow their craft.
- Help shape how the design team grows, including how designer roles evolve in an AI-first development model.
- Build a culture of design thinking across Product and Engineering.
Customer discovery & research
- Lead Andgo's research and discovery program, building strong relationships with the people who use our product.
- Plan and facilitate discovery sessions, virtual and in person, that get below surface answers into real workflows, jobs, workarounds and successes.
- Run debriefs with the Andgo team, synthesise new learnings and validations, and make sure research reaches the people making product decisions.
- Shape a continuous discovery approach that supports the product direction and roadmap.
What you bring
- 7+ years in product design, mostly on complex B2B or enterprise software, with a portfolio showing end-to-end work from discovery to shipped product.
- Experience leading, mentoring or managing designers, and a record of raising the quality of a team's work.
- Strong interaction design and systems thinking, shown through work on complex, multi-step workflows.
- Mastery of visual design principles, with a portfolio that includes polished, information-dense interfaces.
- Pragmatic judgment: a record of balancing design quality with delivery constraints and explaining the tradeoffs.
- Influence across Product and Engineering, earned through clear reasoning rather than authority.
- A record of setting design standards and building or scaling a design system.
- Strong facilitation and research skills, including in-person sessions with frontline and operational users.
- Hands-on experience designing AI-driven features and working in AI-assisted design and development workflows.
- Comfort with deep domain complexity. Workforce management, scheduling, healthcare operations or similar rule-heavy systems are a strong plus.
- Clear written communication: decisions and rationale documented so the team can build on them.
Nice to have
- Experience with unionized, healthcare or manufacturing workforces.
- Design for high-volume mobile use by frontline staff.
- Experience establishing a continuous discovery or research practice.
What we offer
- Health and dental coverage, plus an annual flex spending account.
- $1,500 a year for professional development.
- $1,000 home office setup.
- 4 weeks' vacation, 12 statutory holidays and 2 flex days.
- Remote-Friendly: Work from anywhere in Canada.
- Flexible Hours: Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle.
- Great Team: Collaborative and supportive team members.

Andgo Culture
The culture at Andgo Systems is by D.E.S.I.G.N.
- Does the right thing. We are intentional in determining the right course of action. We do what’s right, not what’s easy, even when no one is looking.
- Exhibits a growth mindset. Andgo is a growth company. We invest in ourselves and seek knowledge to achieve this growth. What got us here is not going to get us there.
- Shows authentic self. We bring our whole selves to work. We have fun, support each other, and contribute positively to our shared culture. We are curious, not judgemental.
- Innovate & iterate. We thoughtfully experiment and push the boundary, knowing that even when we ‘fail’ it moves us forward.
- Good people help first. We add value to every interaction. We have a service-first mentality, whether it’s helping a co-worker or a customer. We listen empathetically.
- No ego. We give and receive feedback openly and honestly. We understand feedback is an important process of improvement and we are willing to change our views when presented with new information.
These shared core values are how we hire, review, reward, and recognize our team, so it’s important that you share these values in order to be a part of the Andgo team.
