The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages the efficient flow of electricity on more than 11,000 circuit-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, dispatching power from hundreds of generating units across the state.

 

New York Independent System Operator (“NYISO”) seeks a Senior Product Business Analyst in Rensselaer, New York.

Responsible for leading requirements elicitation and documentation for multiple, large, complex, cross-departmental, multi-phase and multi-year projects and initiatives as assigned; partnering with Market Design Specialists on designing technologically feasible, functional solutions which meet Business and Market Participant needs within regulatory frameworks and software capabilities; working with business owners, project sponsors, and stakeholders to obtain requirements and achieve optimal solutions which take into account organizational and customers’ objectives in the context of regulatory framework and energy industry trends; developing solutions and business requirements that will meet the needs of customers and conform to the principles defined in the NYISO Tariffs and Business and Operational Manuals, ensuring proper requirements traceability through the design, development, and testing of project components; providing recommendations to users and customers in prioritizing new development projects, enhancements for existing systems, and system maintenance requests; obtaining approval of the business, functional, and technical requirements across all business functions; and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental U.S., but will report to NYISO headquarters in Rensselaer, NY. Salary range: $103k - $ 144k.

Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or foreign equivalent)

Requirements: 2 years of experience in the job offered or related. Other special requirements include: 2 years of experience working with external stakeholders to gather and document technical business requirements; 2 years of experience creating process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, workflow diagrams, or other business processing models to identify business inefficiencies, provide insights, and recommend improvements; and 2 years of experience reviewing, applying, and ensuring compliance with rules and regulations applicable to the electric utilities industry.
