Join an exciting team of actuaries and software engineers modernizing the tools that support insurance pricing. By replacing complex spreadsheet-based workflows with robust applications, we help make actuarial processes more reliable, transparent, and efficient. Our team combines deep actuarial knowledge with a commitment to software development practices. 

As a Senior Pricing Developer on the Technical Indication Model in R (TIMR) team, you will be comfortable writing high-quality R and JavaScript code to build maintainable actuarial applications with R shiny

What you’ll do:

  • Develop new features and capabilities for actuarial applications built with R Shiny.

  • Customize R Shiny components using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

  • Work closely with actuaries and other stakeholders to understand business challenges, refine requirements, and translate ideas into practical solutions.

  • Build and maintain automated test suites of business logic and user interface.

  • Adhere to software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.

  • Train business users in new features.

  • Help shape the technical direction of a growing suite of actuarial applications.

What you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years of work experience in software development.

  • Education or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field.

  • Strong R skills are essential.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is strongly preferred.

  • Solid software engineering fundamentals (version control, testing, code review, estimation, and the ability to learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies). 

  • Experience developing software for technical users is a strong asset.

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $80,000 to $110,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
