Job Title: Senior Power System Engineer
Job location: Irvine, CA
Job Type/ Work schedule: Full-time / Hybrid
We are seeking a Senior Power System Engineer to join our team and take a leading role in the design, analysis, and delivery of microgrid projects. This is a hands-on, customer-facing position for an engineer who has taken microgrid and power system projects from study through to field commissioning, and who is excited to work on projects around the world.
You will bridge power system engineering, control and operation, and software development — bringing both deep technical expertise and project ownership.
What You'll Do
- Lead power system and microgrid studies and analyses, from concept and design to the operation.
- Design, model, and validate the control and operation strategies for microgrids.
- Contribute to development for microgrid controller functionalities using C# and Python.
- Technically lead projects while serving as a technical point of contact for customers.
- Support microgrid projects in the field, including testing and commissioning.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and clients across worldwide projects.
Required Qualifications
- PhD with 3+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 5+ years of relevant experience in power systems / electrical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with microgrids and power systems, including delivered field projects.
- Strong background in power system studies and analyses.
- Familiarity with the control and operation of microgrids.
- Proficiency in programming languages, C# and Python.
- Technical project leadership experience and a genuine willingness to interact directly with customers.
- Willingness and ability to work on and travel to worldwide projects.
- Legally authorized to work in US — visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Plus to Have
- Experience with dynamic analysis and PSCAD.
- Experience with PLC programming and integration.
Salary Range: 87,500.00 - 145,500.00 USD Annual
This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation that the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training.
