Your Role: Senior Producer – The News Agents

Reporting to the Editor and working closely with the Executive Producer, you will help deliver one of the UK’s most distinctive and fast-paced daily news podcasts. This is a hands-on senior production role, combining sharp editorial judgement, excellent production skills and the confidence to make decisions in a demanding news environment.

As a Senior Producer – The News Agents at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead episode production: Take a senior role in scripting, running orders, guest booking, briefing and production. Lead selected episodes from planning and recording through to edit and publication.
  • Deliver across platforms: Work with video and social producers to adapt editorial content for audio, digital, video and social channels, ensuring output is compelling and consistent.
  • Maintain high standards: Help uphold editorial, legal and compliance standards across all output, with close attention to accuracy, fairness and risk.
  • Develop the brand: Contribute to special episodes, series, new show launches and ideas that support audience growth, engagement and the long-term editorial direction of The News Agents.
  • Support outside broadcasts: Play a leading role in planning and delivering on-location recordings, interviews and events, working with editorial, technical and operations teams to ensure smooth, high-quality delivery.
  • Provide senior support: Deputise for the Executive Producer when needed and offer reliable day-to-day support to presenters and the wider production team.

What You’ll Love About This Role

  • Think Big: Help shape agenda-setting journalism for a high-profile and influential news brand.
  • Own It: Take responsibility for delivering high-quality episodes at pace, from the first idea to publication.
  • Keep it Simple: Turn complex news stories into clear, engaging and accessible content for audiences.
  • Better Together: Collaborate with talented presenters, producers and specialists across audio, video, social and operations.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Built strong working relationships with presenters, the Editor, Executive Producer and wider production team.
  • Helped deliver smart, timely and distinctive daily episodes to a consistently high editorial standard.
  • Brought original story ideas, strong guests and clear editorial angles to the programme.
  • Led selected episodes confidently through planning, recording, editing and publication.
  • Made a meaningful contribution to special episodes, outside broadcasts and opportunities to grow the brand.

  • Editorial judgement: A strong understanding of the UK and US news agenda, with the ability to identify compelling stories and angles.
  • Production expertise: Proven ability to script, develop stories, book guests and deliver high-quality speech-based content to tight deadlines.
