Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Packaging Structural Engineer to join our Packaging Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative structural packaging solutions that support Stanley 1913's sustainability goals, brand standards, customer experience, and business objectives. As the team's subject matter expert for structural packaging, you will provide technical leadership, mentor fellow packaging engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and supply chain partners to deliver high-quality, cost-effective packaging solutions.
You will also play a key role in driving packaging engineering best practices, leading packaging change initiatives, and supporting the successful implementation of new packaging solutions across the business. This role offers the opportunity to influence packaging strategy, drive continuous improvement, and shape the future of packaging across Stanley's growing global product portfolio.
This is a full-time position based in our Seattle, WA office and a hybrid role.
What You’ll Do:
- Position will have responsibility to lead special projects as assigned by the Packaging Manager
- Ability to assist in prioritizing projects based on scope and urgency
- Liaison for troubleshooting packaging designs and materials with supply chain partners; responsible for providing feedback to the packaging structural engineering team to improve design practices and development processes
- Lead supply chain continuous improvement efforts and provide technical assistance for packaging performance and process efficiencies
- Serve as a technical resource for packaging performance, scalability, manufacturability, and supply chain optimization initiatives.
- Apply cost-optimization principles to packaging design decisions while balancing customer experience, sustainability, manufacturability, and business objectives.
- Develop innovative and visually appealing structural designs that are easy to set up and unbox
- Develop designs that align with packaging brief documentation, sustainability goals, brand guidelines, and industry standards
- Design and build structural die lines using ArtiosCAD for various paper substrates and corrugated materials
- Build physical mockups using an automated cutting table for evaluation and performance testing
- Document design process, material specifications, assembly instructions, and testing procedures
- Release and modify files and revisions for all design specifications via PLM system
- Provide technical training and oversight to help increase process efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Supply Chain, Merchandise Sourcing, and Packaging Production Engineering
- Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions that reduce material usage, improve recyclability, and support corporate sustainability initiatives.
- Run packaging engineering change processes and facilitate implementation of new packaging solutions across the organization.
- Handle packaging material and structural specification portfolios to support cost, quality, and business objectives.
- Stay informed on packaging industry innovations, competitive trends, and emerging materials to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Serve as a technical resource for packaging performance, scalability, manufacturability, and supply chain optimization initiatives.
Who You Are:
- 6+ years experience as a packaging engineer or senior packaging engineer
- Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Artios and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD and Keyshot rendering software preferred
- Familiarity with TOPS or CAPE software
- Understanding of corrugate, paperboard, and other packaging materials and processes
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes that impacts packaging design
- Effective networking and communication skills

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on multiple factors such as work location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience.
