Job Summary 

Establish production budgets, evaluate and recommend investments in equipment and systems. Management of asset, maintenance and monthly reporting analysis. 

Contribute to strategic planning and decision making. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Lead the operations function and ensure that all production activities meet the business objectives, and are conducted in accordance with the relevant environmental health and safety, quality and business practices standards 
  • Develop and implement production systems and processes that align with the overall vision and objectives, monitor the cost and effectiveness of production activities to optimize resources 
  • Ensure planning and control of manufacturing including materials, scheduling  
    machines and people, and coordinating suppliers and customers. 
  • Leads resource planning, rough cut capacity planning, capacity requirements  
    planning to ensure capacity supports demand, taking action to meet demand through allocation, work transfer, resourcing or investment 
  • Develops supply plan and committing to support customer and business financial needs 
  • Leads lean manufacturing implementation for the operations in pursuit of true north of one piece flow, zero defects, continuous flow, and Takt. Champions lean culture fundamentals of waste elimination and respect for people 
  • Actively demonstrates and coaches systematic problem solving (A3, 8D, DMAIC, DIVE, etc.) including problem statement, containment, root cause investigation, corrective action and control. 
  • Manages production execution and control (production activity control) including organizing and expediting production for recovery 
  • Defines, prioritizes, improves business processes supporting operational continuity 
  • Drives plant people strategies including succession planning, performance & development and career development processes 
  • Develops and manages positive relationship for both internal and external customer Builds a cohesive operations team closely integrated with other function creating a positive working environment 
  • Maintains positive employee relations through regular departmental communications and engagement activities 
  • Be a Change Agent to influence, consult and lead efforts for sharing and  
    standardizing of best practices and processes

  • Supervisory responsibility: Yes, Manufacturing Managers and Lean Transformation core team 
  • Budgetary Responsibility: Yes, operations accounts as assigned by accounting structure 
  • Other financial metrics impacted by this position: Yes, manufacturing hours generation and variation 

Qualification and Education Requirements

  • Minimum Education required (specific field or equivalent): 
  • Degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Production / Materials Engineering  Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt or Lean certification preferred APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred 
  • Minimum years of experience in role: 
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience in the aviation industry 
  • 5 years demonstrated progressive managerial experience 

Preferred Skills (if any): 

  • Experience in precision machining production environment 
  • Strong background in engineering, operations and quality
