Events in recent years have made us all too familiar with the havoc that natural disasters can wreak, and the increasing frequency and intensity with which they are occurring. Despite record levels of losses, conventional methods of risk modeling continue to paint at best an incomplete picture of these threats.

ZestyAI uses novel data gathering and data science methods to produce higher quality information about the risks to property from catastrophes like storms and wildfires. While AI alone may not be able to thwart these disasters, it can help us become more prepared for them, and ultimately that will lead to better outcomes.

Getting an AI-driven risk model into the market means getting it approved across 51 jurisdictions. As Senior Manager, Regulatory Affairs, you will own that work end to end: preparing and submitting multistate filings, writing the model documentation regulators expect from an AI-driven modeling company, resolving objections and interrogatories, and maintaining the licenses and reporting obligations that come with operating as a rating and advisory organization. You will also partner directly with carrier clients, supporting them through their own filings and translating state requirements into practical guidance.

The target start date is Q1 2027. The role is posted at the Senior Manager level; final title and level will be determined by the experience of the selected candidate.

The Opportunity:

•     Draft, file, and defend AI and predictive model filings in SERFF from drafting through approval, including model checklists, methodology narratives, validation summaries, and variable justifications that show how ZestyAI models differ from legacy approaches
•     Lead objection and interrogatory responses, coordinating with data science, actuarial, product, and outside counsel to close out state inquiries on schedule
•     Help scale the regulatory function as ZestyAI's models and state footprint grow, building the processes, tools, and standards that keep multistate filing repeatable as volume expands
•     Support carrier clients on rate and underwriting filings that use ZestyAI models, including department questions, and represent ZestyAI in client meetings and working sessions
•     Monitor state requirements, bulletins, and department posture, and turn them into internal guidance and client updates
•     Iterate rapidly in a fast-paced, business-driven environment

What You Bring to the ZestyAI Team:

•     6+ years of U.S. P&C insurance industry experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, product management, actuarial, or a related discipline, gained at a carrier, rating or advisory organization, department of insurance, or filing consultancy
•     Hands-on ownership of multistate P&C rate, rule, and form filings in SERFF from drafting through approval, including writing objection responses and resolving them directly with department analysts and actuaries
•     Fluency with AI tools such as Claude as a core part of your daily workflow, including building the prompts, templates, and tooling that let a small team operate across 51 jurisdictions
•     Working fluency with rating plans, rate and rule manuals, class plans, and the actuarial support that accompanies them
•     Strong persuasive technical writing under deadline, including turning technical and statistical documentation into a filing narrative a regulator will accept
•     Polish and composure with external audiences, including carrier clients, department staff, and industry groups
•     Judgment to own a workstream independently and to know what to escalate and when
•     Bachelor's degree; must be legally eligible to work in the United States

Nice to Have:

•     Actuarial designation strongly preferred (ACAS or FCAS, or substantial exam progress); CPCU, ARM, AINS, or actuarial coursework also valued
•     Experience filing predictive, machine learning, or catastrophe models and responding to model governance or third-party model review requirements
•     Familiarity with NAIC model laws, bulletins, and workstreams related to AI and third-party data and models
•     Experience building AI-assisted workflows, prompts, or agents that others have adopted
•     Prior experience at a rating, advisory, or statistical organization, or managing outside filing consultants, actuarial consultants, or regulatory counsel
•     Personal or commercial property insurance background
