What You Will Achieve
- Provide leadership and support to the QCA laboratory functions in their application of local and corporate testing standards as well as EHS standards to ensure a fully compliant, effective and safe QC Operations at Andover
- Ensure all QCA Policies, SOPs and other GMP documentation are continuously maintained in a compliant and inspection ready manner
- Ensure all QCA laboratory systems supporting the QCA operation are continuously maintained in a compliant and inspection ready manner
- Ensure the timely testing of starting materials, in-process, final product and stability samples to support all Andover Operations and compliance with the respective licensed specifications
- Ensure standardized QCA practices and systems across all QCA functional areas and drive the implementation of Operational Excellence best practices and tools in support of an efficient QCA operation
- Drive the implementation of new QCA test technologies and lead the way within the network in such advancements.
- Provide oversight of all technical support required in support of the PGS product testing and registration and new product introductions to the site
- Ensure all data required for Annual Product Quality Reviews (APQRs) is supported and provided within agreed timeframes and is underpinned by an effective and efficient laboratory trending program
- Develop capital and expense budgets for QCA Operations, supported by an effective capacity planning tool and continuous KPI measurements; operate within the approved budgets
- Oversee the management of the training and development of all QCA staff to ensure an agile and flexible workforce including:
- Development and Approval of Job Descriptions
- Development of training curricula/records
- Development Plans and performance feedback
- Completion of Performance Appraisals
- Ensure the delivery of an excellent customer service to all internal and external customers of the QCA department
- Network and liaise as appropriate with other QC professionals inside and external to Pfizer, as necessary, to ensure ongoing knowledge of evolving Quality Laboratory standards
· Understand, role model, coach and ensure others embody Pfizer’s values and our site culture
- Carry out other activities as requested by the Quality Control Director
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
- Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science/related field with at least 6 years of experience OR Master’s degree with more than 5 years of experience, OR a PhD with 1 years of experience OR MD / VDM with 0 years of experience
- Previous experience within a laboratory in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, and experience leading people leaders and directing a large, complex organization
- Experience influencing Board of Health inspections and successful interactions with inspectors
Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
- Comprehensive expertise in HPLC, GC, and various laboratory equipment
- Familiarity with six sigma, lean labs, and standard work practices
- Proficiency in Empower software
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment
- Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance
- Experience with team development tools, e.g. DiSC, 5 Behaviors and successful implementation of the tools, is strongly desired
Physical / Mental requirements
- Ability to stand for 1 hour at a time, sit for 2 to 3 hours at a time, walk long distances and bend to obtain items from lower shelving/cabinets
Non-Standard work schedule, travel or environment requirements
- Primarily standard work hours with some exceptions to meet business needs.
- Some travel may be required to support network and sister site initiatives; <5% required travel.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $139,100.00 to $231,900.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
