About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned a Product Head / Senior Manager to own the end-to-end development and management of the general insurance product portfolio. The role requires the capabilities to translate market opportunities and customer needs into commercially viable product propositions, and drive products from concept through launch and ongoing product performance. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring close partnership with actuarial, underwriting, distribution, claims, operation, technology, risk, and legal & compliance, as well as regular presentation of product strategies and business cases to senior management and the product committee.With strong project management capabilities, the Product Head / Senior Manger is expected to lead complex initiatives with discipline and agility, ensuring timely execution and high-quality outcomes. The role plays a critical part in supporting sustainable corporate growth and strengthening the organisation’s market position.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking, and customer insight analysis to identify product gaps and growth opportunities
- Manage full product development lifecycle — from ideation, feasibility, and business case approval.
- Design and implement product features, T&Cs, ensuring alignment with business strategy, pricing and risk appetite.
- Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, and deliverables; proactively manage risks, dependencies, and timelines across all stakeholders - Serve as the single point of accountability for product launch readiness.
- Prepare comprehensive product launch packs for distribution channels, including product summaries, sales guides, FAQs, training materials.
- Ensure all products comply with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
- Collaborate with the Claims team to ensure product design supports fair, efficient claims outcomes and to incorporate claims insights into product iterations.
- Engage Sales Channels (agents, brokers, bancassurance, direct/digital) to ensure product marketability, channel readiness, and effective go-to-market execution.
- Prepare and deliver product presentations, business cases, and performance reviews to Senior Management team and Product Committee members.
- Conduct post-launch reviews and drive product enhancements or remediation as needed.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Actuarial, Finance, Insurance, or a related field; professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CII, ANZIIF, FLMI) are a strong advantage
- 10+ years of experience in general insurance product development or product management, with demonstrated end-to-end ownership of at least one full product launch
- Strong hands-on experience drafting and reviewing T&C, policy schedules, policy wordings, and product launch documentation
- Solid working knowledge of actuarial principles, underwriting practices, and claims processes in general insurance
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and cross-functional stakeholders
- Confident communicator with proven experience presenting to senior executives and governance committees
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory environments (e.g., insurance conduct, product governance, fair value requirements)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen; proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint; experience with product lifecycle or project management tools is a plus
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English and Chinese.
