This role is eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus, subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's sign-on bonus program.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Lead Hydrogeologist to lead groundwater, hydrogeologic, permitting, regulatory compliance, and underground injection control (UIC) projects throughout Florida and the Southeast. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hydrogeologic evaluations, UIC permitting, water use permitting, environmental compliance, water quality analysis, and project management, with a demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, and complex regulatory programs. This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership on municipal, industrial, water supply, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), injection well, and environmental consulting projects while supporting strategic business growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Serve as technical lead for hydrogeologic evaluations and water resource projects.
- Plan, manage, and execute groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, water quality evaluations, and hydrogeologic assessments.
- Lead evaluations associated with:
- Underground Injection Control (UIC) systems
- Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) projects
- Class I and Class V injection wells
- Potable water supply development
- Deep well disposal systems
- Interpret hydrogeologic, geologic, and water quality data to support permitting, compliance, and design efforts.
- Prepare and review technical reports, permit applications, work plans, and regulatory documentation.
Project Management
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
- Serve as primary point of contact for municipal, industrial, utility, and private-sector clients.
- Coordinate field investigations, drilling operations, testing programs, and subcontractors.
- Lead project teams consisting of hydrogeologists, geologists, engineers, environmental scientists, and technical staff.
- Ensure successful project delivery while maintaining profitability and client satisfaction.
Regulatory & Compliance
- Support permitting and compliance activities involving:
- Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP)
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Water Management Districts
- Local regulatory agencies
- Develop regulatory strategies and negotiate permitting requirements with agencies.
- Review operational, compliance, and water quality monitoring data.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Florida groundwater regulations and UIC requirements.
Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for new and repeat business.
- Support proposal preparation, scope development, fee estimates, and contract negotiations.
- Participate in professional organizations and industry conferences to expand market presence.
Mentorship & Leadership
- Provide technical mentoring and professional guidance to junior staff.
- Review technical deliverables for quality assurance and quality control.
- Support recruiting, training, and career development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geological Sciences, Hydrogeology, or related field.
- Professional Geologist (P.G.) license.
- 15+ years of experience in hydrogeology, groundwater resources, environmental consulting, or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of:
- Groundwater flow systems
- Hydrogeologic characterization
- Water quality analysis
- Groundwater monitoring programs
- UIC permitting and compliance
- Environmental regulations
- Demonstrated project management experience with technical and financial responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing client relationships and multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) systems.
- Experience supporting Class I and Class V injection well permitting.
- Regulatory experience with FDEP groundwater and UIC programs.
- Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of groundwater and water quality datasets.
- Business development and client management experience.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
