ING Hubs Romania offers 130 services in software development, data management, non-financial risk & compliance, audit, and retail operations to 24 ING units worldwide, with the help of over 2000 high-performing engineers, risk, and operations professionals.

We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and operate from Bucharest.

Our tech capabilities remain the core of our business, with more than 1800 colleagues active in Data and Analytics Tech, Tech Foundation and Channels, Retail Core Banking and Architecture, and Global Products and Technology Services.

We enjoy a flexible way of working and a highly collaborative environment, where fair and constructive feedback is encouraged.

For us, impact isn't a perk. It's the driver of our work. We are guided and rewarded by a shared desire to make the world a better place, one innovative solution at a time. Our colleagues make it their job to do impactful things and they love doing it in good company. Do you?

The Mission
You will work in the dynamic and challenging environment of Payment. We operate according to a Scrum development process with two-week sprints and strongly believe in the DevOps approach to delivering IT solutions. We strive to have the high-quality mission-critical software delivered in time using iterative development with regular milestone reviews with stakeholders following the ING’s agile way of working to reduce surprises in what we build.

The Order Manager As A Platform is responsible for:

Building internal and external OMaaP APIs;
Creating orders for execution and routing them to the payment engine;
Warehousing orders until they are executed;
Tracking the status during the entire life-cycle of an order;
Reporting the status of an order through direct and assisted channels.
The future of the OMaaP is really interesting and contains many challenges and opportunities. For example, processing instant payments and exposing APIs to the outside world.

Your day to day:

  • API Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs and components essential for supporting the business cases of OMaaP. Ensure the platform remains reliable and efficient;
  • Integration and Persistence: Guarantee seamless integration of APIs with technologies such as Kafka, Elastic, and Cassandra, ensuring data persistence and smooth communication between different system components;
  • DevOps Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Ops engineers to implement and optimize API integrations, bridging the gap between development and operations;
  • Agile Scrum Process: Actively participate in Agile Scrum development processes, including attending regular meetings, contributing to sprint planning, and working in iterative cycles to continuously improve our product;
  • Continuous Delivery: Commit to delivering working software to production every two weeks, maximizing customer satisfaction and impact through regular feedback loops;
  • Monitoring and Alerting: Assist in setting up and maintaining delivery metrics to Prometheus, ensuring effective system monitoring and timely alerts to address any issues;
  • Software Development: Design, develop, test, deliver, and maintain high-quality software solutions. Develop complex new functionality and coordinate its implementation in the production environment;
  • Automation: Automate deployment, functional testing, technical testing, and other processes from the start;
  • Support: Provide both functional and technical support for the application.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Proven experience building and maintaining high‑quality Java (17+) Spring Boot microservices in a distributed environment.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Kafka, Docker, OpenShift, Azure DevOps, Cassandra, and the ELK stack.
  • Strong capability in designing, evolving, and maintaining RESTful APIs, including domain models, validation flows, and integration contracts.
  • Ability to actively contribute to architecture discussions, including service boundaries, data models, event‑driven communication, and performance considerations.
  • Commitment to code quality through thorough code reviews, enforcement of engineering standards, and mentoring of less‑experienced team members.
  • Experience providing accurate estimates and contributing effectively to sprint planning and refinement sessions.
  • Solid background in unit and integration testing, using JUnit and Karate Framework.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to investigate, reproduce, and resolve issues across test, acceptance, and production environments.
  • Ability to produce and maintain clear technical documentation covering deployments, configurations, and service behavior.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
