Senior HR Advisor (Maternity Cover 12 months)

The Beauty Tech Group's people function is scaling as fast as the business behind it, and we're looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor to provide maternity cover across our HR and office team. You'll be the trusted voice managers and employees turn to for complex employee relations matters, keeping our HR operations running smoothly, and giving hands-on guidance to our HR Assistant along the way.

Please note this role will report into our CFO/COO.

What you'll be doing

Employee Relations & HR Advice

• Provide practical, commercially focused HR advice and guidance to managers and employees.
• Lead on complex employee relations matters — grievances, disciplinaries, capability, performance and complex absence cases — ensuring they're handled fairly, consistently and in line with policy and legislation.
• Support investigations and prepare related documentation, letters and meeting materials, escalating high-risk cases to our external employment-law adviser where needed.
• Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and ensure actions are followed through.

HR Operations & Administration

• Oversee the effective delivery of day-to-day HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding and absence management.
• Prepare and review contracts, letters and other HR documentation, keeping records and systems accurate and up to date.
• Assist with HR reporting, and ensure HR policies and procedures are communicated and applied consistently.
• Keep up to date with relevant employment legislation and HR best practice.

Management & Development of HR Assistant

• Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance and support to the HR Assistant, allocating and prioritising work to keep the function running effectively.
• Review work, provide constructive feedback and coaching, and support the HR Assistant's development across a broader range of HR activities.
• Act as the first point of escalation for more complex employee or manager queries.

Training, Health & Safety

• Support the delivery and coordination of internal training and development activities, identifying requirements and working with managers on solutions.
• Support HR and workplace compliance, including health & safety and fire safety administration, escalating significant concerns appropriately.

Office & Facilities Support

• Provide reasonable support with general office and facilities activities — supplies, suppliers and general office administration — though this remains supportive rather than the primary focus of the role.

Skills, knowledge & expertise

• Significant experience in a HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor role, with strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience managing a range of employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability and absence.
• Confident providing HR advice to managers, with sound judgement on sensitive or confidential matters.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, with experience supporting or supervising a more junior team member.
• Nice to have: CIPD qualification; experience in a small or standalone HR function working with external employment-law advisers; experience supporting health & safety, office/facilities, or employee training.
