About this Senior Financial Analyst role at SOPHiA GENETICS
Have you built Excel models from scratch to turn financial data into useful revenue and volume reporting? Do you want to take ownership of those models and improve how an FP&A team delivers its analysis?
If this sounds like you and you are driven by purpose, join the SOPHiA GENETICS financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team as a Senior Financial Analyst and enable us to make a positive impact on the outcomes for cancer and rare disease patients worldwide.
Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule allowing 2 days PW home working, collaborating closely with colleagues in our Boston corporate office
Our Mission
We believe there is a smarter, more data-driven way to make decisions in healthcare and our cloud-native AI powered SOPHiA DDM Platform makes that vision a reality on a daily basis. You will have direct input to our mission to democratize data-driven medicine for the ultimate benefit of cancer and rare disease patients across the globe.
Your Mission
You'll report to our FP&A Manager, taking ownership of existing models and reporting while looking for better ways to deliver them. The work includes recurring tasks, new requests and changing priorities. You'll have guidance from your manager, with the expectation that you'll become increasingly independent and take on more complex responsibilities over time.
The value you add
- Build and improve Excel models, revenue reporting and Power BI dashboards that track revenue and volumes, highlight trends and identify problems and opportunities. Maintain existing KPIs and develop new performance metrics.
- Gather, organize and validate financial data from systems such as Salesforce, Jira and Dynamics so reporting is accurate and reliable. Choose the right output for each question, whether an interactive model with adjustable inputs or a fixed dataset.
- Contribute to the annual budget, monthly reforecast and long-range strategic plan, and own analysis of actual results against plan to explain key trends impacting the business.
- Prepare and present revenue performance reviews and recommendations to key stakeholders, senior finance management and the Executive team, supporting decisions on business development and operational initiatives.
- Partner across functions on ad-hoc analysis, improve recurring reporting processes and contribute to automation and AI initiatives that help the team's work scale.
Requirements
We know that every background is different, but to be best set for success we see you bringing:
- 3-4 Years experience in Financial Analysis / FP&A Teams.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience building your own models that calculate results, rather than only updating templates or presenting data in spreadsheets.
- Experience working with financial data and a foundation in financial modeling that you can apply in an FP&A setting.
- The ability to explain a model you've built, from its source data through to its outputs and the decisions behind its design.
- This may suit a first mover with excellent financial analysis and modelling skills.
- Experience with Power BI, Databricks, SQL or Planful would be useful.
Benefits
You will be joining an organisation with the patient at the heart of every decision and action, driven by purpose as we pursue exponential growth.
