Your Role with Us

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you play a pivotal role in delivering trusted, accurate, and forward-looking financial reporting that supports AIA New Zealand’s strategic decision-making. Partnering closely with the Manager, Financial Reporting and stakeholders across Finance, the wider business, and AIA Group, you provide technical leadership, insight, and assurance in a dynamic environment.

This role offers the opportunity to combine deep accounting expertise with innovation, helping shape how reporting processes evolve through automation and AI-enabled solutions. You will influence key outcomes, strengthen controls, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting AIA’s purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

Your Impact


  • Lead the month-end close process, delivering accurate financial results, reconciliations, and reporting outcomes on time.
  • Deliver meaningful financial analysis and forward-looking insights that help leaders understand performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Own statutory, regulatory, and group reporting requirements, ensuring high-quality submissions that meet internal and external obligations.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reporting quality.
  • Strengthen financial reporting controls by designing and continuously improving frameworks that support compliance, assurance, and risk management.
  • Build trusted relationships across Finance, the wider business, auditors, regulators, and AIA Group stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.


Your Capabilities


  • You have strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to interpret complex accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting obligations.
  • You bring experience delivering external financial reporting, audit coordination, and financial analysis within a complex finance environment.
  • You have a proven ability to identify improvement opportunities and redesign processes that increase efficiency, quality, and future scalability.
  • You bring strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, using data and multiple sources of information to generate practical insights and solutions.
  • You have the confidence to build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders, influencing outcomes through clear communication and collaboration.
  • You may also have experience with financial services reporting and modern finance technologies such as SAP, BlackLine, Power BI, Power Query, or AI-enabled finance tools.
