We are offering you the opportunity to join our Process Application Development team in Leuven, Belgium as a Senior Process Engineer.

Our team develops new processes and applications in a vertical batch reactor for state-of-art integrated device flows. It is a chance to work in one of the most advanced scientific fields in the world and still seeing your inventions in tomorrow’s products out in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Works with semiconductor processing equipment to research, develop and optimize processes focused on oxidation, annealing, curing, and deposition (CVD, ALD) of thin films
  • Develops new applications of thin films and processes in the areas of logic, memory, analog, power and MEMS
  • Designs and conducts experiments, measurements and performs the interpretation of complex experimental output.
  • Documents and publishes the learnings in internal and external communications and defines new standard recipes (BKM).
  • Apply expertise process experience to drive and guide new hardware and software development.
  • Works with customers and product marketing to understand and define requirements to successfully execute projects and demonstrations
  • Translate development results into robust, repeatable customer-ready processes by addressing tool matching, variability, productivity, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Ensures successful product transfer to customer base by performing demonstrations, knowledge transfer, and traveling to support remote sites (up to 25% travel required)
  • Spend time at customer locations (international travel) to understand real production conditions, integration requirements, and operational challenges that influence successful process adoption.
  • Delivers creative solutions, creates inventions and develops intellectual property

Education

  • PhD degree in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science, preferably with a thesis related to the semiconductor or adjacent industries

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience with cure, oxidation, ALD, CVD and/or other thin film deposition techniques - MUST HAVE
  • Experience with ALD deposition of metal oxides or metal nitrides
  • Preferably have experience with ASM toolset
  • Experience with processing, developing and characterizing thin films
  • Understanding of physics of semiconductor devices
  • Experience with materials characterization techniques such as XPS, SIMS, RBS, AFM, XRR, XRD, TEM, SEM, and ellipsometry
  • Knowledge of electrical characterization techniques for CMOS devices

Skills

  • Being able to understand semiconductor wafer processing equipment technology, advanced chemistries and the physics of semiconductor devices and materials
  • Ability to independently manage process development projects
  • Understanding of the interplay between hardware design and process outputs
  • Having a hands-on approach and flexible attitude
  • Enjoying solving problems and driving results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly communicate advanced technical constructs in a direct and concise manner
