Job Summary:

Lucid Motors is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer, Charging Software Testing to support the development, validation, and verification of high-voltage (HV) and vehicle charging systems. This role involves designing and executing test plans for onboard chargers, high-voltage power electronics, and related vehicle charging components. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, operate test equipment, analyze data, conduct QA testing and contribute to the advancement of Lucid’s EV technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct QA testing to verify system functionality, reliability, and compliance Develop and execute test plans for HV powertrain components, such as the onboard chargers.
  • Operate and maintain high-voltage test equipment, power supplies, electronic loads, and mechanical test setups.
  • Perform validation and safety testing, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendors to define test methodologies and ensure compliance with standards such as J1772, ISO 15118, and J3400
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) / High Voltage Buck testing of the charging system, implementing automated test cases.
  • Design, build, and maintain test benches for both high and low-voltage systems.
  • Automate data logging and analysis using tools like Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Canape, Canaylzer.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose test failures, working with software, hardware, and systems engineers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of test procedures, results, and design improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field is required.  Master's degree or higher education is preferred. 
  • 5+ years of experience in battery software testing or automotive embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in Vector CANoe, CANape for testing and simulations.
  • Experience with High Voltage battery software testing, including safety protocols, PPE usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Expertise in MATLAB Simulink family of tools for model-based software verification
  • Strong understanding of battery parameters: voltage, current, capacity, energy, SOC, SOE, SOP, SOH, and charge/discharge characteristics.
  • Familiarity with networking devices and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, RS-232, USB, Automotive Ethernet).
  • Ability to design and build test benches and integrate test automation tools.
  • Excellent documentation skills for test planning, execution, and reporting.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$158,400$217,800 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.  Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
