About this Senior Electronics & Electrical Lab Technician / Lead role at Fourier

Fourier · Onsite · HQ

Fourier is working to make on-site hydrogen universally accessible. Our breakthrough architecture enables highly modular and automated electrolyzers that scale to any size while optimizing efficiency across operating conditions. We are on a mission to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, emission-free energy future.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly hands-on Senior Electronics & Electrical Lab Technician / Lead to join our lean R&D and manufacturing team.

This is a technical leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the hardware and can own the build, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of complex electrical and electronic systems. You will work closely with electrical, power electronics, mechanical, controls, and manufacturing engineers to bring prototypes and one-of-a-kind assemblies from concept through testing and deployment, including development of internal test systems for Fourier's electrolyzer stacks.

You will also mentor junior technicians, establish best practices, and help ensure work is performed safely, accurately, and efficiently. The ideal candidate is comfortable with both low- and high-voltage systems, has hands-on experience with electrical safety and Hi-Pot testing, and can independently troubleshoot hardware from component to system level.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Lab Operations

  • Own electrical and electronics lab activities, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient execution.

  • Lead and mentor junior Electronics and Electrical Technicians.

  • Establish best practices for electrical assembly, testing, instrumentation, documentation, and lab safety.

  • Support prioritization and coordination of hands-on activities across multiple projects.

  • Maintain lab equipment, tools, instrumentation, calibration, and consumables.

Electrical & Electronics Build, Test & Troubleshooting

  • Build, wire, instrument, test, and troubleshoot prototype and production electrical/electronic assemblies.

  • Work with low- and high-voltage AC/DC systems and high-energy equipment.

  • Perform electrical safety testing, including Hi-Pot/dielectric withstand, insulation resistance, continuity, and grounding tests.

  • Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, and other laboratory equipment.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues at the component, PCB, subsystem, and system level.

  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.

  • Support harness development and production.

Test Development & Prototype Manufacturing

  • Partner with engineers to develop electrical/electronic test methods, fixtures, test stands, and procedures.

  • Translate engineering requirements into practical and repeatable test setups.

  • Design, fabricate, wire, instrument, and commission experimental and production test equipment.

  • Own hands-on assembly and testing of one-of-a-kind and low-volume manufacturing hardware.

  • Build custom electrical panels, wiring harnesses, control systems, instrumentation, and prototype assemblies.

  • Support first builds and transition successful prototypes into repeatable manufacturing processes.

  • Develop SOPs, work instructions, inspection criteria, and test documentation.

  • Identify design, assembly, and test issues and drive corrective actions with engineering.

Safety, Documentation & Collaboration

  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and highly functional laboratory.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, test procedures, checklists, and technical documentation.

  • Ensure accurate test data, hardware configuration, and traceability.

  • Follow and help establish electrical safety and lockout/tagout practices.

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, electrical, power electronics, mechanical, controls, and manufacturing teams.

  • Clearly communicate test results, failures, observations, and recommendations.

  • Provide practical hands-on input during design reviews and help drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics, electrical systems, laboratory testing, manufacturing, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently own hardware or technical projects from build through testing and troubleshooting.

  • Strong experience building, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting electrical/electronic assemblies.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.

  • Experience with common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.

  • Hands-on experience with Hi-Pot/dielectric withstand and electrical safety testing.

  • Strong hardware troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

  • Ability to work safely around high-voltage and high-energy systems.

  • Strong organization, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently while providing technical guidance to others.

Preferred

  • Experience with both low- and high-voltage AC/DC systems.

  • Experience with high-power electrical systems or power electronics.

  • Experience developing test fixtures, test stands, or automated testing systems.

  • Experience with prototype, R&D, first-of-a-kind, or low-volume manufacturing.

  • Experience with electrical panels, cabinets, harnesses, instrumentation, or industrial equipment.

  • Component-level PCB troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience with data acquisition or test scripting.

  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment.

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or related field.

What We're Looking For

  • Technical ownership: You take problems from identification through resolution.

  • Hands-on expertise: You enjoy building, testing, and debugging real hardware.

  • Safety mindset: You understand the discipline required to work with high-voltage and high-energy systems.

  • Builder mentality: You can turn engineering concepts into functioning assemblies and test setups.

  • Problem solver: You enjoy finding out why something doesn't work.

  • Technical leader: You help less experienced technicians grow and become more independent.

  • Adaptability: You are comfortable working with new and evolving hardware.

  • Team player: You collaborate effectively across engineering and manufacturing.

What We Offer

  • Fully paid Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage

  • Competitive salary and equity compensation

  • 401(k)

  • Paid sick days and vacation

  • Diverse and inclusive work environment

  • Opportunity to work directly on breakthrough hydrogen technology in a highly hands-on R&D environment
