The Opportunity

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and verification of innovative electronic systems used in Cochlear's hearing solutions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support the development of reliable, high-quality products from concept through to release.

You will collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, test, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to solve technical challenges and help deliver products that improve the lives of people with hearing loss.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and verify electronic circuits and subsystems for medical device products.

  • Debug and troubleshoot electrical hardware throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Support product verification, validation, and design reviews.

  • Contribute to technical investigations and root cause analysis activities.

  • Collaborate with firmware, test systems, mechanical, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams.

  • Support reliability, robustness, and manufacturability improvements.

  • Participate in technology evaluations and feasibility studies when required.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.

  • Support transfer of products into manufacturing and ongoing production support activities.

About You

You are an experienced electronics engineer who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and working within collaborative development teams. You take ownership of your work, communicate effectively with colleagues across disciplines, and are motivated by developing robust, high-quality products.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical circuit design and product development.

  • Experience designing, testing, and debugging electronic circuits.

  • Good understanding of analogue and digital electronics.

  • Experience working throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Audio circuits and low-power electronic systems.

  • Hardware troubleshooting and laboratory testing.

  • Product verification and validation activities.

  • Medical device development or other regulated industries.

  • Battery-powered portable electronic products.

  • Reliability and robustness testing.

  • Design for manufacturability and production support.

  • Familiarity with wireless technologies such as Bluetooth Low Energy.

  • Technical/Design Lead experience.

  • Understanding of Radio and EMC principles and compliance considerations.
