About the Role

 

As a Senior Content Editor for the Medical Education and Medical Practice portfolios, you will be a key player on a team that is passionate about creating quality content and delivering that content in innovative solutions. Utilizing your advanced editing and project management skills, you will take on significant content projects, collaborate on initiatives to enhance content workflows, foster innovation in the digital space, and partner closely with stakeholders. Your contributions will help ensure that our content not only meets but exceeds industry standards.

 

Responsibilities

 

You will develop content and assets for print and digital products serving medical education and clinical practice audiences. You will oversee your assigned high-volume products during the development cycle to ensure we deliver content for our customers on time, on spec, in scope, and within budget.  Collaboration will be key for success as this role requires close partnerships internally with teams including Acquisitions, Editorial Operations, Content Operations, Product Management, Marketing, and Sales, and externally with vendors, authors, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure that we produce exceptional content that delights our customers and maintains our competitive edge.

 

Key Tasks

 

  • Manage the product development cycle in collaboration with Editorial Operations for assigned projects including textbooks, courseware, videos, and a broad range of digital assets
  • Collaborate with SMEs, authors, vendors, and in-house staff to develop and refine clear, engaging content for multiple platforms and customer needs
  • Analyze proposals and sample content to determine market viability and evaluate the ability of SMEs/authors to create and revise content in accordance with the project plan
  • As defined by project scope, demonstrate development editing capabilities through an analysis of author’s/SME’s approach, organization, pedagogy, illustrations, writing style, and utilization of engaging digital resources, providing direction to authors/SMEs as needed
  • Create and monitor a comprehensive project budget and coordinate with Editorial Operations to create and monitor a schedule/project plan, assisting in the preparation of reports for management as needed
  • Problem-solve any quality or scope issues that occur, and collaborate with Editorial Operations to resolve breakdowns regarding schedule, budget/cost, and vendor/freelancer/SME performance
  • Support efforts to enrich our products through development of digital assessment, student and instructor resources, case studies, videos, and more, ensuring content is optimized for digital delivery and discovery
  • Enforce editorial standards and guidelines and ensure compliance with legal and ethical content guidelines
  • Evaluate content performance metrics and suggest improvements that help solve customer problems
  • Engage in quality assurance initiatives for digital content

 

Qualifications

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in academic and/or healthcare publishing
  • Travel: <10% for team meetings and conferences

 

Skills

 

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and content management applications
  • Advanced editing skills: Proficient in refining content for maximum impact with a focus on aligning details to strategic objectives
  • Project management: Ability to lead and coordinate multiple content projects simultaneously
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Ability build and maintain effective working relationships with various teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, leadership abilities, prioritization, and time management skills, with strong knowledge of editing
  • Performance analysis: Ability to use metrics to drive content improvements
  • Compliance awareness: Understanding of legal and ethical standards in content
  • Quality assurance: Proficiency in ensuring content quality and consistency
  • Knowledge of SEO strategies

Compensation:

$66,700.00 - $116,400.00 USD

 

This role is eligible for Bonus.

Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position.  Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
