YOUR MISSION

The Senior Communication Designer turns complex, often sensitive technology into stories people can understand, remember, and act on. You will work with Communications, Business Development, engineers, and executives to find what matters, structure the story, and design presentations that are clear, distinctive, and unmistakably True Anomaly. The work spans capability and company presentations, customer briefings, business development materials, executive communications, and keynotes.

This is a hands-on design role for someone with a strong creative point of view and meticulous craft. You will bring ideas for how a story looks, feels, and unfolds, using visual concepts, imagery, and thoughtful pacing to make ideas resonate. You will find the headline and make sure that comes through clearly. You will follow our brand guidelines, and when a project needs something, the system doesn’t have yet, you will help create it and expand its possibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Story and Message

  • Work with subject matter experts to pull the essential ideas out of conversations, technical documents, data, and rough source material. Ask good questions and identify gaps and find unexpected connections or perspectives.
  • Partner with Communications and Business Development to stay on message. They own the message; you help structure it, sequence it, and find the clearest way to show it. Support copy as needed and bring in copywriters for larger needs.
  • Validate technical content with its owners. Explain your decisions and challenge approaches that obscure the point.

Design

  • Develop visual concepts that give each presentation a creative approach. Use typography, composition, pacing, and hierarchy to build a story across slides. Create diagrams, charts, and timelines that clarify technical concepts without losing accuracy.
  • Create original graphics and integrate photography, renders, illustration, video, and motion from internal teams and outside partners. Identify missing assets and help define them.
  • Adapt depth and structure for technical briefings, executive discussions, customer meetings, live presentations, and materials meant to be read alone.
  • Work confidently within our brand system. When a project or story calls for a new approach, develop in partnership with Brand & Creative leadership so the work expands the system’s creative range.
  • Build editable templates and asset libraries that non-designers can use with confidence.

Sensitive Information and Delivery

  • Handle proprietary and export-controlled content according to company policy, including marking, review, storage, and sharing. Raise questions early.
  • Work closely with Business Development, and with Finance and People teams, who are frequent end users of our presentations and templates.
  • Carry projects from intake through delivery, checking content, labels, sources, formatting, and files. Manage multiple projects and communicate tradeoffs clearly. Support live delivery for executive and keynote presentations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in communication, presentation, information, or brand design, with substantial presentation work and a record of leading complex, high-visibility projects.
  • A portfolio that shows excellent visual craft and the ability to turn complex or incomplete information into a clear, persuasive story. A portfolio link is required. Where possible, show the starting material alongside the finished work and explain your specific contribution. Anonymized or redacted examples are welcome.
  • Strong editorial judgment: you can identify the main point and decide what to emphasize, simplify, sequence, or cut.
  • Experience working directly with technical experts, senior stakeholders, and business development or sales teams, including developing the narrative before design begins.
  • Experience handling sensitive, proprietary, or controlled information, or the discipline to learn quickly.
  • Excellent typography, layout, data visualization, and diagramming skills.
  • Experience designing within an established brand system, creating new components when needed, and building reusable templates for non-designers.
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Figma, including editable charts, master layouts, and reliable file handoff.
  • Comfort in a fast-moving environment where the function and workflows are still being built.
  • Valuable but not required: aerospace, defense, or other complex technical experience; keynote, launch, or capability storytelling; motion and video integration; creating guidance that helps teams adopt new tools.
  • Genuine interest in aerospace, defense, or national security. Domain expertise isn’t required; taking the mission seriously is.

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary:  $105,000 - $205,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.
