The Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting secure, scalable and reliable cloud solutions across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. The role works across enterprise architecture, project and operational teams to translate business and technical requirements into practical cloud solutions that align with whole-of-government standards and enterprise architecture principles.
The role provides technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, from architecture and design through to implementation, automation and continuous improvement, while supporting and mentoring other technical team members.
Remote arrangements are considered. This is a 12 month contract role.
Requirements
What you'll do:
- Design and deliver secure, scalable and reliable cloud solutions across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
- Develop enterprise and application-level architectures aligned to business requirements, target architectures and government standards.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across cloud projects, from solution design through to implementation and delivery.
- Translate stakeholder and user requirements into practical technical solutions and assess impacts across existing environments.
- Drive cloud automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and continuous improvement practices.
- Ensure solutions align with security, identity, networking, architecture and Digital Service Standard requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Enterprise Architecture, developers, business analysts, testers, scrum masters and business stakeholders.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years' experience designing, implementing and managing cloud systems and technologies.
- Strong hands-on experience across Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus and API Management.
- Strong experience with Azure DevOps, including repositories, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD deployments.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
- Strong understanding of Azure networking, security and identity, including Virtual Networks, Private Endpoints and Role-Based Access Control.
- Experience integrating cloud solutions with third-party systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
- Demonstrated experience designing and documenting architectures for large and complex enterprise environments.
- Experience working within Agile, multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor others and influence architecture and delivery outcomes.
- Experience working within government or other highly regulated environments, including alignment to relevant standards, is desirable.
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP is desirable.
- Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
