The Opportunity

Avangrid Power is seeking a high-performing development professional to originate, lead, and advance utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects throughout ERCOT. This role is intended for an experienced developer capable of independently creating development opportunities, securing site control, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and driving projects through key commercial and technical milestones.

Position Impact

As a senior member of the development organization, this individual will play a critical role in expanding Avangrid Power's Texas portfolio. Success will be measured by the ability to originate new opportunities, secure and maintain critical stakeholder relationships, manage development risk, and deliver high-quality projects into the construction pipeline.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead origination and greenfield development of utility-scale solar, wind, and standalone or co-located BESS projects across ERCOT.
  • Develop market-based origination strategies and identify high-potential development corridors.
  • Negotiate leases, purchase options, easements, and complex land agreements.
  • Represent Avangrid Power in high-impact negotiations with landowners, county officials, economic development organizations, regulators, and community leaders.
  • Manage project development activities including permitting, interconnection, commercial strategy, title, survey, and real estate diligence.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants.
  • Support acquisitions, joint ventures, and development partnerships.
  • Present project recommendations and risk assessments to senior leadership.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • 5-7+ years of utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, infrastructure, transmission, or project development experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing site control and advancing projects through key development milestones.
  • Strong understanding of ERCOT market fundamentals and project economics.
  • Experience leading contract negotiations and stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout Texas and nearby markets.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct ERCOT solar and/or battery storage development experience.
  • Experience advancing projects through interconnection, permitting, and pre-construction readiness.
  • Working knowledge of ERCOT interconnection processes and transmission development considerations.
  • Experience with project acquisitions, joint development agreements, and M&A activities.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth, and geospatial screening tools.
  • Strong familiarity with title review, survey management, and land curative processes.
