Position Summary
VetaTek is seeking an experienced Senior Business Central Developer / Technical Lead to serve as a key technical leader within our Dynamics 365 Business Central practice. This individual will partner closely with functional consultants, mentor developers, guide solution architecture, and lead the design and delivery of Business Central extensions and integrations.
This role combines hands-on development with technical leadership and requires deep expertise in AL development, Business Central architecture, integration design, and software engineering best practices.
Solution Design and Architecture
- Partner with Business Central functional consultants to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Create technical designs and architecture documentation for client review and development execution.
- Lead architecture discussions for Business Central customizations, extensions, and integrations.
- Evaluate technical approaches and proactively identify scalability, maintainability, and performance concerns.
Development and Technical Leadership
- Design, develop, and maintain Business Central extensions using AL.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex development challenges.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and troubleshooting support for junior and mid-level developers.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with leadership to manage development priorities and release readiness.
Support and Problem Resolution
- Diagnose and resolve complex Business Central issues, including:
- Performance optimization
- Upgrade and deployment challenges
- Posting and transactional errors
- Data issues
- Integration failures
- Support ongoing client environments and contribute to long-term solution stability.
Process Improvement and Innovation
- Continuously improve development methodologies, release processes, and technical standards.
- Enhance source control, environment management, testing, and deployment practices.
- Evaluate and implement AI-assisted development tools to increase productivity and code quality.
- Contribute to the evolution of VetaTek's Business Central development practice.
AI Tooling
- Become the in-house expert for our AI-powered delivery ecosystem, maintaining and enhancing agentic workflows that automate the end-to-end software development lifecycle from requirements and design through build, test, and deployment.
- Understanding that tooling goes well past coding assistants: it’s a network of agentic workflows that carry a client request from requirements and design through build, test, and deployment.
- Evaluate, implement, and refine emerging AI tools and workflow enhancements to increase team productivity and accelerate client outcomes.
- Continuously optimize AI-driven development and build automation processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, quality, and delivery speed across client engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central development experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing Business Central solutions using AL.
- Strong understanding of Business Central functional areas, including General Ledger and Financial Management, Sales and Customer Management, Purchasing, Inventory, and Supply Chain Management.
- Experience leading technical design discussions and gathering solution requirements directly from stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of Business Central APIs, web services, and integration patterns.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithmic efficiency, application architecture, performance optimization, and secure coding practices.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working for a Microsoft Partner or consulting organization.
- Experience with AL-Go for GitHub and/or Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with Business Central containers and BcContainerHelper.
- AppSource application development experience.
- Multi-tenant Business Central solution development.
- Experience integrating Business Central with Dynamics 365 Sales, Dataverse, Power Platform, and third-party applications.
- NAV to Business Central upgrade and migration experience.
- Experience using Application Insights, telemetry, and SQL performance tuning.
- Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Azure development, or languages like C#/.NET, TypeScript, or Python
Benefits
- Base salary range: $120,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
- 3% employer profit-sharing retirement contribution.
