ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a seasoned backend software engineer and hands-on technical lead to drive the expansion of Peloton’s e-commerce platform across web, retail, and emerging sales channels. In this role, you will architect and scale high-performance, resilient backend systems that power seamless experiences for millions of internal and external users globally.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON

  • Lead the hands-on execution of high-impact initiatives, guiding architecture decisions to ensure fast, reliable delivery while maintaining stakeholder alignment
  • Partner daily with product managers, designers, and peer engineers to scope, build, and launch software that makes a positive impact to Peloton and its customers
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive team environment focused on continuous learning, technical excellence, and empowering colleagues to reach their full potential

YOU BRING TO PELOTON

  • 6+ years of software development experience with mastery in languages like Java, Kotlin, or Python, alongside expertise in designing and scaling RESTful microservices and GraphQL APIs
  • Hands-on experience with event streaming technologies (Kafka, Amazon SQS), cloud ecosystems (AWS/GCP), and modern data stores (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
  • Proficiency in Spring Boot, Docker, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, automated testing, and observability tools like DataDog
  • Track record of owning features from concept to production, navigating cross-functional team dynamics, and bringing an iterative, adaptable mindset to solving complex problems

BONUS

  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, DevOps/CI-CD pipelines, or full-stack tech (React, Next.js)
  • Familiarity with leveraging AI tooling within modern software engineering workflows

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our New York City headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including, without limitation, experience and business objectives and if the location for the job changes. Our base salary is just one component of Peloton’s competitive total rewards strategy that also includes annual equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan as well as other region-specific health and welfare benefits.

Base Salary Range
$173,478—$213,957 USD
