Job Title: Senior Backend Developer – Java / Spring Boot 

Experience Level: Senior (L3 – 6 to 9 years of experience) 

Location: Kuala Lumpur 

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture to develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications within the Digital Banking domain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance REST APIs, working with Kafka for event-driven communication, and managing containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift. Experience with Oracle databases and enterprise banking applications is essential. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot. 

• Develop and maintain microservices-based applications and RESTful APIs. 

• Implement event-driven services and messaging solutions using Apache Kafka. 

• Deploy, configure, and support containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift. 

• Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and data access components using Oracle. 

• Troubleshoot application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions. 

• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver quality software solutions. 

• Ensure application security, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to coding standards. 

• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, unit testing, integration testing, and production support. 

• Work in Unix/Linux-based environments and support application deployment and maintenance activities. 

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including development processes, application performance, and system reliability. 

Required Skills:

• • 6–9 years of hands-on experience in backend application development.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and J2EE.
  • Extensive experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Practical knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
  • Strong experience with Oracle databases and relational database concepts.
  • Experience working with HPUX, Linux, and Solaris operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage technical deliverables, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• • Experience in Digital Banking or Retail Banking applications.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
  • Experience with Apache Camel and CXF web services.
  • Knowledge of Spring Batch for batch processing.
  • Experience with JSP (JavaServer Pages).
  • Familiarity with Unix shell scripting.
  • Experience with WebLogic application server.
  • Good understanding of SQL and database query optimization.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript for frontend integration.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale banking systems and transaction-processing applications.
