DIALOG is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Contract Construction Administrator to provide site-based architectural leadership for the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia Acute Care Tower project in Prince George, BC.
This is a complex, multi-year healthcare project being delivered using a Project Alliance model. The role requires a collaborative, technically strong and solutions-oriented leader who can represent DIALOG within an integrated project team while protecting design quality, managing architectural construction-phase responsibilities and supporting Best For Project outcomes.
This is a full-time, site-based position located in Prince George, BC. The successful candidate will maintain a consistent on-site presence throughout the duration of construction. Relocation assistance may be discussed where appropriate.
How you'll make a difference:
Lead DIALOG’s on-site architectural construction administration activities for the UHNBC Acute Care Tower.
Serve as a senior architectural representative within the integrated Alliance project team.
Establish and maintain clear construction-phase protocols, workflows, communication channels and decision records.
Work collaboratively with Northern Health, constructors, trade partners, consultants, commissioning representatives, authorities having jurisdiction and other Alliance participants.
Conduct regular site reviews for general conformance with the contract and design documents.
Identify deficiencies, coordination issues, emerging risks and departures from the design requirements, and lead timely resolution.
Coordinate multidisciplinary review of design clarifications, submittals, site instructions, changes and field conditions.
Support delivery of phased and just-in-time construction-document packages aligned with permitting, procurement and construction sequencing.
Interpret drawings, specifications, design requirements and Alliance documentation, providing clear and technically defensible direction.
Protect design intent, healthcare functionality, patient and staff safety, building performance and regulatory compliance.
Support construction within an active hospital campus, including coordination related to shutdowns, infection prevention and control, temporary conditions, access, noise, vibration and continuity of hospital operations.
Participate in constructability, sequencing, mock-up and quality reviews with the design, construction and clinical teams.
Monitor architectural progress, quality and completion status, identifying issues that could affect schedule, cost, commissioning or operational readiness.
Support deficiency management, commissioning, turnover, Substantial Completion and the project’s defect-correction process.
Provide leadership and mentorship to architectural technologists, contract administrators and other project team members.
Contribute to a collaborative project culture based on accountability, trust, open communication and Best For Project decision-making.
Who you are:
You have 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in architectural construction administration, construction-phase services or a closely related field.
You have led construction administration for large, technically complex institutional projects, preferably in healthcare.
You have construction administration experience on an acute-care hospital or other complex healthcare facilities and understand the unique requirements of healthcare environments.
You are available to work full-time from the project site in Prince George, BC, and maintain a consistent on-site presence throughout the project.
You possess strong knowledge of architectural systems, building envelope assemblies, interior construction, coordination interfaces, constructability and field sequencing.
You understand construction contracts and alternative project-delivery models, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative commercial environment.
You have demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and resolving complex field conditions.
You are experienced in reviewing design clarifications, shop drawings, submittals, changes, mock-ups, deficiencies and construction-document updates.
You can distinguish between design clarification, coordination, changed conditions, construction deficiencies and potential scope change.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with phased design releases and concurrent design, procurement and construction activities.
You have experience delivering projects using phased permitting, fast-track construction processes and phased construction-document releases.
You bring sound professional judgment and can make timely, well-documented and defensible recommendations.
You communicate clearly and constructively with owners, constructors, consultants, trades and authorities.
You demonstrate strong negotiation, conflict-resolution and relationship-management skills.
You are comfortable working within an integrated team in which decisions are assessed against overall project outcomes rather than individual organizational interests.
You have experience leading and mentoring junior and intermediate team members.
You hold a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
Nice to have:
Experience working on an active healthcare campus with infection prevention and control, shutdown, access and operational-continuity requirements.
Experience with Project Alliance, Integrated Project Delivery, construction management or design-build delivery.
Knowledge of the BC Building Code 2024, post-disaster building requirements and applicable healthcare standards.
Experience with commissioning, integrated systems testing, operational readiness and healthcare turnover.
Experience with architectural mock-ups, room standardization and clinical user reviews.
Familiarity with BIM-based coordination, Revit and construction-management platforms.
Registered Architect, Architectural Technologist, Engineer, Certified Construction Contract Administrator or equivalent professional designation.
Experience working in northern, remote or regional project environments.
Don’t meet every single requirement? We still encourage you to apply! We’re looking for future DIALOGers who are eager to learn, bring unique perspectives, and want to make a real difference in the world—even if your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification.
