Senior AI Technical Writer
About the Role
You will write and maintain our technical documentation. You will also build the AI workflows that make documentation faster to produce. This role blends strong writing skills with hands-on AI skills. You will use tools like Claude to draft, check, and publish content — cutting the time it takes to go from idea to published doc, without losing quality.
What You'll Do
Write and Maintain Docs
- Write and update user guides, help articles, release notes, and process docs.
- Keep content clear, correct, and consistent with our style guide.
- Work with engineers and subject matter experts to gather the right source material.
Build and Run AI Workflows
- Set up and manage AI tools in Azure DevOps and related platforms (Claude, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Azure AI Services).
- Write and refine prompts and agent instructions that generate first-draft content.
- Check AI-generated content for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before it publishes.
- Track how much time AI saves, and report on it.
Improve the Process
- Find steps in the writing and development process that AI can speed up.
- Build a docs-as-code workflow, so documentation gets written alongside the code, not after it.
- Set up context-sensitive help early in development, not at the end.
- Test new formats, like AI-generated videos or product tours.
Work With Others
- Partner with technical writing leads, SMEs, QA, and dev teams.
- Help other writers and teams adopt AI tools and new workflows.
- Document your own processes, so others can follow them.
What You Need
- A bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience works too.
- 5+ years writing technical docs, doing QA, or working in software development.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps: pipelines, workflows, and AI integrations.
- Hands-on experience with an AI platform like Claude, Copilot Studio, or Azure AI Services — real production use, not casual use.
- Experience improving technical workflows.
Nice to Have
- Experience writing prompts or building AI agents, ideally paired with a specific technical domain.
- Experience checking AI output for errors and building a review process around it.
- Basic scripting or API experience.
- Experience with docs-as-code, DITA, XML, or a content management system.
- Experience working across multiple products or business areas.
Other Skills
- You think in systems and look for ways to automate work.
- You catch errors. AI drafts still need a human check, especially for anything safety-critical.
- You learn new tools and products fast.
- You can turn a messy SME conversation into clear, structured docs.
- You communicate well, in writing and out loud.
- You're comfortable in a fast-moving, remote-first team.
