About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to manage financial administration across multiple entities, including a technology services business, investment entities, and investment properties. You will work closely with senior leadership to maintain accurate financial records, strengthen existing bookkeeping practices, reconcile recurring costs and customer billing, and deliver reliable financial reporting.

As the business grows, the role has the potential to broaden into additional financial and operational support, including quote preparation, management reporting, and the development of scalable finance processes. Success will be measured by accurate and well-structured records, dependable reconciliations, clear reporting, and consistently documented procedures.

Ideal Profile

Experience & Role Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance administration.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency with Xero accounting software.
  • Experience maintaining accurate financial records and completing reconciliations across multiple entities or business structures.
  • Working knowledge of Australian GST, BAS, payroll, and taxation requirements relevant to bookkeeping.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with financial reports and data.
  • Ability to review historical records, identify discrepancies, and improve financial data quality.
  • Proven ability to work independently, learn quickly, prioritise effectively, and follow tasks through to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial and commercial information.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related discipline.
  • Xero certification or demonstrated advanced Xero capability will be highly regarded.

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting investment entities, commercial lending transactions, or investment property bookkeeping.
  • Exposure to IT services, managed services, technology, subscription, or recurring-revenue environments.
  • Understanding of software licensing, recurring vendor billing, and customer on-billing reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing management reports or financial information to support lending and investment decisions.
  • Experience with payroll administration.
  • Familiarity with MYOB, while Xero expertise remains the priority.
  • Interest in applying AI and workflow automation to improve finance processes and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping across four Xero files and associated entities.
  • Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, coding, and payment records.
  • Complete accurate bank, balance-sheet, and transaction reconciliations.
  • Reconcile software licensing and vendor charges against corresponding customer billing.
  • Review existing Xero files, identify discrepancies, and coordinate required corrections.
  • Standardise financial coding, descriptions, naming conventions, and record-keeping practices.
  • Prepare accurate financial reports to support business, investment, and lending decisions.
  • Maintain financial records relating to investments, lending arrangements, and properties.
  • Assist with GST, BAS, payroll, and other bookkeeping obligations.
  • Prepare supporting financial documentation for finance applications.
  • Support customer invoicing, supplier records, and quote preparation.
  • Develop and document consistent, repeatable bookkeeping procedures.
  • Use AI and automation tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and finance workflows.
  • Proactively identify and escalate financial discrepancies, questions, and potential risks.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable cybersecurity requirements.
  • Build reliable, scalable bookkeeping practices that enable senior leadership to make timely and informed financial decisions.
