RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

• Responsible for the monthly financial close by preparing account reconciliations, submitting journal entries and working with Sections to obtain relevant information.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for assigned PGA of America Section offices.
• Track fixed assets and review depreciation schedules.
• Serve as a financial resource and business partner to Section Executive Directors and staff.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses.
• Review financial statements with Section Executive Directors and explain trends, variances, and opportunities for corrective action.
• Work with accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure processing is timely and accurate.
• Train and coach Section staff on accounting processes, policies, procedures, and financial reporting tools.
• Assist Sections with the preparation, review, and monitoring of annual operating budgets.
• Support the onboarding and implementation of new Sections entering the Section Financial Program.
• Lead or contribute to special projects, departmental initiatives, and cross-functional process improvements.
• Serve as the primary backup for assigned Sections and provide coverage during staff absences or periods of increased activity.
• Bring forward ideas that enhance efficiency, consistency, service delivery, and the overall Section experience.
• Develop and implement methodologies to improve the tracking, analysis, and reporting of financial and performance metrics.
• Proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and add value to the department, colleagues, and Section offices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance.
• Five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger experience.
• Strong knowledge of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Workday Financials experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting multiple entities, departments, or business units is preferred.
• Google Suite experience is preferred.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 

Must have knowledge of accounting principles, practices, financial reporting, and financial information systems. Must have the ability to apply strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills when interpreting accounting policies, regulations, and related guidance. Must have the ability to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial and organizational information. Must have the ability to provide effective financial support to three to four PGA of America Sections while managing competing priorities and deadlines. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to explain financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Docs. Basic fluency in artificial intelligence (AI) tools and concepts. This includes using AI to enhance business operations and drive innovation, enabling us to better serve our Members and stakeholders.
