ROLE SUMMARY

The Cluster Scientific Expert will support medical affairs and cross-functional activities for the Cluster, with primary responsibility as the lead medical and scientific expert for the TA priority asset(s). This role will primarily support Vyndaqel, Vydura and I&I pipeline. The role will assume responsibility for co-developing, socialising and executing the cluster brand medical plan, collaborating with the International medical teams, and cross functional partners. They will provide strategic thought partnership for commercial, marketing, regulatory and access initiatives across the cluster, including acting as a SME for HTA and other access activities.

The Cluster Scientific Expert will be a critical part of the Cluster Medical LT spearheading a new kind of medical affairs organization to experiment and innovate with integrity and credibility.

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-develops and executes the strategy and cluster medical brand plan for the Therapeutic Area within the Cluster.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) on specified asset(s) and disease area science, within and outside of Pfizer, including ensuring TA communications, training and knowledge is shared with Cluster MAS.
  • SME support of HTA and other access activities and colleague training in line with the current training model (mode of action, disease state).
  • Closely partners with the Cluster Medical Lead, Country Medical teams and International Category teams to pull through the global medical plans for the priority assets.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with external regional KOLs across the cluster.
  • Contribute to Cluster strategic plans on publications, scientific congresses, insight generation and targeted data generation.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in scientific processes and methodologies, including the full adoption and leveraging of AI to facilitate new ways of working.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced healthcare or scientific degree coupled with deep pharmaceutical experience and knowledge. A medical degree (MD) or equivalent and board certification, or TA-related PhD and post-doctoral experience is desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical affairs or related roles.
  • Proven ability to interact and build relationships with senior KOLs and Government officials.
  • Direct experience of medical work in one or more Cluster markets desirable, especially related to regulatory and access landscapes and processes
  • Demonstrable deep scientific expertise and medical experience at a country, regional or global level.
  • A full, detailed understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the European setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

 STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

Key member of the Cluster Medical LT including CMLs and other Scientific Experts. Cluster TA point of contact for global, regional and country medical affairs, R&D, platform, commercial, regulatory, and access teams. External stakeholders include senior HCPs / KOLs, scientific experts, patient organisations, government officials, HTA authorities, regulatory authorities.

This role will include a customer-facing component, with the successful candidate expected to maintain contacts and interactions with senior KOLs at a country and regional level.
