SAP Basis Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY:

SAP Systems Administrators are responsible for maintaining the ongoing reliability, performance, management and support of the SAP systems environment. SAP environments may include but are not limited to: Administration, Sales, Distribution, etc. Responsibilities include managing applications and systems, responding to problems and planning for growth. SAP Systems Administrators understand the technical infrastructure standards and requirements for the integration of specific SAP modules. This may include migration tasks such as change request review, software build coordination, release documentation, production issue resolution and tracking report distribution. They also understand the business implications of application and system problems allowing them to appropriately set severity levels when problems do occur. SAP Systems Administrators monitor the performance of system applications. Individuals execute contingency plans in case of system outages, troubleshoot a wide variety of technical problems and provide Level II support to the Help Desk. In addition, these roles participate in projects to implement SAP services such as initial installation, as well as subsequent installations of updates and patches.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows manager in projects and is responsible for deliverables.
• Works on multiple, high to highly complex projects.
• Maintains SAP systems and applications, supporting and training users for SAP system(s) and applications usage.
• Supports integration of changes in test, pre-production and production environments.
• Works with production quality assurance/testing team to ensure appropriate level of testing has been completed prior to implementation of change.
• Works on the installation of upgrades and patches for the enterprise SAP system.
• Follows all necessary technical checklists to ensure completion of upgrades.
• Participates in system-wide updates, upgrades and fixes.
• Ensures the performance and reliability of SAP systems.
• Assesses risk of implemented changes before performing them.
• Responds to escalated system problems.
• Monitors and maintains a comprehensive set of performance metrics for all system features.
• Identifies risk levels and recommends and implements corrective/preventive actions.
• Maintains history reports, identifies and addresses re-occurring problems.
• Creates automation scripts for efficiency and process improvement.
• Prepares documentation for customer support, such as server and client hardware/software configurations and network configurations.
• Can act as a leader for SAP projects
• Coaches less experienced staff.
• Role will require 1 week of on-call every 2 months. Will also require 1 weekend a month for support as well.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
• Typically has 5 or more years of business and/or SAP implementation experience.
• Experience with systems and database administration.
• Requires experience with implementation, operating, and performance management of several of the following: SAP S/4 HANA, SAP PO, SAP Fiori, SAP Solution Manger, SAP BTP, SAP LVM, SAP HANA Cockpit, SAP SLT, SAP DS/IS, SAP ECC system on Oracle Database & SAP HANA in On-Prem and Public cloud such as Azure, GCP, AWS

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires skills in multiple technical environments and knowledge of a specific business area.
• Requires certification in specific areas (i.e., Basis, Oracle, Hana).
• Strong organization skills
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Good interpersonal skills; solid team player
• Knowledge of client/server technology.
• Experience across multiple SAP software products. (e.g. ECC, BW, PI)
• Good group presentation skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting complex SAP performance problems.
