The Sales Manager is responsible for building and growing profitable sales of replacement mining parts, wear components, MTECK draglines, and related equipment solutions. The position develops new business, manages strategic customer accounts, and expands wholesale and dealership opportunities to support Strata’s long-term growth objectives.

The Sales Manager serves as a primary 3rd Party customer contact for parts sales, leading commercial strategy, customer development, proposals, pricing, and negotiations. The position works closely with the Technical Services Director, Purchasing and Inventory Management to understand customer needs, identify equipment and aftermarket opportunities, and deliver integrated equipment, parts, service, and lifecycle-support solutions. This position will also specifically focus on securing 3rd party sales of new MTECK draglines across the US and work closely with the NAM Business Development group as opportunities develop.

Job Description:
 

Essential Duties: 

  • Develop and execute sales plans to achieve annual revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Develop strategic plans for key accounts and identify opportunities to increase market share.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, customer visits, and industry relationships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with mining companies, contractors, OEMs, distributors, dealerships, and equipment owners.
  • Expand sales of replacement mining parts, wear components, MTECK draglines, and related solutions.
  • Work closely with the NAM New Business team to identify, execute, and support the sale of MTECK draglines, mining equipment, services, and parts.
  • Partner with the Strata Technical Services Director to identify field-service and MTECK dragline support opportunities.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate sales forecasts.
  • Negotiate pricing within company guidelines while protecting company profitability.
  • Understand customer equipment, maintenance schedules, and operational requirements.
  • Assist customers in identifying and sourcing replacement components and equipment upgrades.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and product recommendations based on customer needs.
  • Work with Purchasing and Inventory Management to develop appropriate buying, selling, and stocking strategies.
  • Coordinate with Operations to support timely order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, and relevant product developments.
  • Serve as a professional representative of Strata at customer meetings, mine sites, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Requires 50–70% travel, including travel to customer locations, mine sites, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Must operate a vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of mining equipment, including draglines, cranes, shovels, conveyors, and other heavy mining equipment.
  • Experience selling replacement mining parts, aftermarket products, and industrial components preferred.
  • Strong business development and consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic customer and account relationships and establish relationships and industry contacts within the mining industry.
  • Experience developing wholesale, dealership, OEM, or distributor relationships.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage pricing and profitability.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple accounts and business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with JDE or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, mining, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least five years of successful B2B outside-sales experience.
  • Experience in mining, heavy equipment, industrial distribution, construction equipment, or a related industry.
  • Strong consultative selling, relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to understand customer applications and equipment requirements.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.

ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION

  • Intermittently: Lift, carry, and pull up to 50 lbs. (tools, technical equipment, product samples, documents, and related materials).
  • Occasionally (0–1/3 of workday): Push/pull materials; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach during equipment inspections and site visits; handle tools, computers, and technical documentation; stand, walk, and sit during customer meetings, travel, inspections, and administrative work.
  • Frequently (1/3–2/3 of workday): Climb ladders, stairs, catwalks, draglines, and elevated work areas; maintain balance on uneven terrain; perform equipment observations and inspections requiring depth perception, visual acuity, and color recognition.
  • Constantly (2/3–3/3 of workday): Speak, hear, and see while conducting customer meetings, technical discussions, training, inspections, equipment observations, reporting, and safety-related activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in office, warehouse, industrial, and mining environments with frequent travel. Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, moving equipment, temperature extremes, and outdoor conditions is common. Ability to wear required PPE and safely access customer facilities and heavy equipment is required.
