The Firm’s International Tax Practice is one of the largest on the West Coast and its well-recognized SEC practice serves approximately 35 public reporting companies, mostly in the technology industry.   

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee preparation and filing of multi-jurisdictional sales and use tax, business & occupation and gross receipts tax filings using Vertex tax engine and Anybill for payment processing
  • Review transactional data and tax calculations from ERP systems to ensure compliance and accurate tax application on sales and purchases in view of cross-border taxation rule
  • Manage reconciliation of tax liability accounts and ensure proper documentation for audit trail and internal controls
  • Support sales and use tax audits by facilitating advisory and controversy team with the document requests and responding to inquiries.
  • Oversee and ensure timely obtaining and renewal of business licenses
  • Manage correspondence and notices from jurisdictions assisting with timely response, follow-ups and resolution
  • Historic review of global Indirect Tax and Revenue.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to support system configuration and tax automation projects, especially relating to Vertex integrations and ERP system enhancements
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to streamline compliance and reporting functions.
  • Coordinate the building of automation and review tools using Alteryx / Tableau / SQL / Machine learning / Python etc.
  • Automate and standardize our indirect tax data extraction and calculations with the Data science and Data Ops Project Managers.
  • Track and report; revenue, indirect tax and invoicing issues; automation projects; and management visualization dashboards.
  • Design & Report compliance Trackers to the Indirect Tax Technical regional teams and the regional Country Controllers.
  • Develop team of tax return preparers by providing them with required training
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Job Skill:

  • Degree in finance, accounting, tax and/or other related field(s).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience 
  • Core Experience with Sales & Use Tax regulations in US
  • Working knowledge of Vertex and Anybill platforms
  • Robust knowledge of MS Excel and/or logic-based tools (e.g. advanced excel models, Tableau/Alteryx)
  • Experience with complex revenue systems involving several levels of upstream data and a wide range of global products, discounts and adjustment types
  • Ability to work through huge data volumes and extract the truth
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-driven, extremely critical, ‘can-do’ attitude and a positive outlook
  • Comfortable working through solutions with a wide range of subject matter experts
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision
