The RN Supervisor for Surgical Services is a licensed registered nurse (RN) accountable for leading, managing and advancing people, processes and / or programs that support direct or indirect patient care. The RN supervisor promotes and advocates for patients, nurses / colleagues and the practice of nursing as defined by clinical area(s) of expertise and assignment. 

  

Essential Functions:

• Maintains a Working Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws / regulations, Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior and safe work practices.

• Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

  

Schedule:  

• 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week  

• Day shift (10 hour shifts)

• On call rotation for weekend, holiday and night hours with a 30-minute response time

Minimum Qualifications:  

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required.

• Bachelor’s degree is required within five (5) years of hire or job transfer, with continuous enrollment in a related degree program documented throughout that period.

• Current Iowa RN license, (MercyOne Genesis, excluding Aledo and DeWitt, - current Registered Nurse (RN) license in either Iowa or Illinois is required at the time of hire. A secondary RN license for the other state must be obtained within 12 months of the hire date.)

• At least two (2) years of relevant clinical experience is required.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within three (3) months of hire. Colleagues employed and working solely in facilities located in Illinois are exempt from this requirement in accordance with applicable state requirements.

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter for both Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training is required within six (6) months of hire.

• Specialty practice certification is preferred.

• Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

• Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health and MercyOne.
