• Base Salary $132,533 p.a. + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to join a high-performing research team within the Clinical School. This role will contribute to an innovative research program focused on obesity and eating disorders, with a particular emphasis on developing and evaluating screening and assessment pathways to improve health outcomes for children, adolescents, and families.

Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in the design, delivery, and translation of impactful research. You will contribute to competitive grant applications, publish high-quality research outputs, supervise students, and build meaningful partnerships across academic, clinical and community settings. This position is ideally suited to an emerging researcher looking to establish an independent research profile while contributing to evidence-based practice and policy.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• conduct high-quality research independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• lead and contribute to research projects focused on obesity, eating disorders, and screening and assessment pathways
• prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals
• present research outcomes at national and international conferences, seminars, and stakeholder forums
• contribute to the development of competitive grant applications and funding submissions
• supervise and mentor honours, postgraduate and research students
• undertake statistical analysis and manage research data using REDCap, R, and other relevant platforms
• develop productive collaborations with academic, clinical and industry partners to strengthen research impact and translation
• contribute to School and Faculty initiatives that support a culture of research excellence.

About you

• a PhD in public health, psychology, nutrition, health sciences, epidemiology, or a related discipline
• demonstrated experience conducting original research and contributing to scholarly outputs
• knowledge and expertise on the intersection of obesity and eating disorders
• experience with evidence synthesis, clinical trials, qualitative research and with conducting research in primary care settings
• a developing track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
• experience contributing to competitive grant applications and research funding activities
• proficiency in REDCap, R, or equivalent statistical and research data management software
• experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting students within a research environment
• demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
• excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information to varied audiences.
