Research Associate 1-Engineer will participate in designing and implementing research projects within Dr. Queen’s research lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Additionally, the Research Associate 1 – Engineer will administer and conduct scientific experiments and tests. Applies established research methods and techniques to support laboratory research activities; evaluates existing procedures and assists in adapting methodologies to meet project needs under the direction of the principal investigator; research current state of science in injury mechanisms, rehabilitation from injury or disease; Assists in the development, implementation, and validation of biomechanical models and computer-based systems to measure human movement using Theia3D/Qualisys/other Motion Capture systems; develop data analysis tools using MATLAB/Python/R/Visual3D scripts; perform relational database development using REDCap; collect and process 3-D motion analysis data using Theia3D/Qualisys (QTM)/other Motion Capture systems; collect and analyze electromyographic data using Noraxon/Delsys systems, as well as pressure and load measurements using the loadsol/pedar/emed systems; Participates in the implementation and testing of new data collection procedures in collaboration with research team members; assist with grant development; perform general computer and equipment troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field; ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge to the conduct of engineering research required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, at least one year working experience with Bachelor's Degree. specializing in MATLAB/Python/R programing with knowledge of inverse dynamics is required.

Desired

A background in gait and motion analysis and the development and submission of Institutional Review Board protocols will be highly valued. Relational database development and management experience preferred (REDCap experience); experience in an engineering research capacity desired. Knowledge of biomechanics data collection methods and equipment troubleshooting as well as the ability to work well in larger teams on multiple projects at the same time. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $51,500 - $67,250. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
