The Role

We are currently hiring for a Reinsurance Director to shape and deliver reinsurance strategy across CNA Hardy and the International segment. Working closely with the AVP Reinsurance and senior leaders, you will lead programme design and placement, strengthen broker and reinsurer partnerships, and drive the ongoing development of reinsurance systems, processes and operations. You will also deputise for the AVP Reinsurance as required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Shape reinsurance strategy: Lead the development of CNA Hardy and International segment reinsurance strategy, aligning programmes with underwriting priorities and wider group objectives.
  • Design and deliver placements: Create efficient, effective reinsurance programmes and oversee placements to optimise structure, coverage and spend.
  • Build strategic partnerships: Manage long-term relationships with brokers, reinsurers, Group Reinsurance and key stakeholders across CNA’s international operations.
  • Strengthen operations and technology: Oversee reinsurance systems, data, processes and operational improvements, identifying and managing risks linked to technology deployment.
  • Lead with impact: Deputise for the AVP Reinsurance, develop a high-performing placement team and ensure activity meets applicable legal, regulatory and counterparty requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Reinsurance expertise: In-depth knowledge and experience of outward reinsurance, with substantial experience gained in general insurance.
  • Strategic and commercial judgement: The ability to develop reinsurance plans, assess programme changes and new coverages, and translate strategy into effective placements and budgets.
  • Senior-level experience: A relevant business degree and/or proven business management experience at a senior level within a global insurance or financial services organisation.
  • Influential communication: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience preparing and presenting materials for committees and boards and representing the organisation externally.
  • Analytical and leadership capability: Strong numeracy and Excel skills, combined with developing experience of leading a placement function, managing people and driving continuous improvement.
