As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Emergency Department (ED), you will support a diverse patient population, with many managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in their lives and help promote a journey toward recovery or stability. All the while, you will gain extensive hands-on experience, enhance your skills, earn incentive pay and explore the numerous professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:00AM or 3:00PM - 3:30am, with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.  

• Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.  

• Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

• Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.  

• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. 

• Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications/treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.  

• Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program 

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

• Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Bachelor’s Degree 

• Prior experience in critical care 

• Neonatal/pediatric experience (when appropriate for site)

• Prior experience performing invasive procedures (when appropriate for site)
