Job Description
Job Summary
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. Utilizing the nursing process, the PACU RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to promote safe recovery and positive patient outcomes. This role monitors patients throughout the post-anesthesia phase, administers medications and treatments, responds to changes in patient condition, provides patient and family education, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
Essential Functions
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients during post-anesthesia recovery.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with established policies and professional standards.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and caregivers regarding recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- BLS certification required; ACLS required.
- Previous PACU, critical care, emergency, perioperative, or related nursing experience preferred.
PER DIEM RATE: $56.50 / HOUR
Pay Range: $45.14 - $56.44 Hourly
The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience and location of position.
