Planned Parenthood of Montana (PPMT) leads by providing, promoting, and protecting sexual and reproductive health care and education for all Montanans.

 

Job Summary

 

Under the medical supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and day to day supervision by the Health Center Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) will provide services, patient education and referrals to PPMT patients, as well as perform basic lab duties, assist with procedures as applicable (including abortion), assist the health center team as needed for excellent patient care and workflow, and perform administrative tasks that support an efficient, patient-focused health center environment. The RN will function within the approved guidelines set by the CMO and as outlined in the Affiliate Medical Standards and Guidelines. RNs are advocates to “empower all people to make private reproductive health care decisions by providing quality health care, medically accurate education and advocacy for individual rights.”

 

PPMT is offering competitive compensation of $35 to $45 per hour depending on qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Montana RN license
  • Current CPR certificate
  •  

    Preferred experience:

    • Reproductive health care
    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
    •

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct patient education sessions on all Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved birth control methods.
  • Provide specific instruction on the patient’s selected birth control method.
  • Provide sexual transmitted infections treatment and education.
  • Provide transgender education, resources, and referrals.
  • Provide education and administer Depo Provera
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with procedures as needed.
  • Ultrasound.
  • Provide abortion counseling, surgical and medical (MAB).
  • MAB follow-up.
  • Abortion sedation, inserting IV, pushing meds.
  • Abortion recovery room duties.
  • Coordinate centralized Abortion follow-up.
  • Assist with set-up and coordination of PPMT call center.
  • Clinical/administrative audits as assigned.
  • Provide back up to health center Clinic Assistants as needed.
  • Coordinate monthly RQM trainings.
  • SANE training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education

    • Provide medically accurate education on all FDA approved birth control methods to patients and handle patient questions and problems relating to these methods in a factual, unbiased manner.
    • Provide medically accurate education and counsel on abortion in a factual, unbiased manner.
    • Participate in PPMT in-service educational activities.
    • Carry out group and individual teaching and education as needed.

      Clinical Team Effectiveness

      • Participate in a team centered approach to patient care, being cognizant of and responsive to the needs of the patients and the entire clinical team.
      • Understand and work together as a team member to reach PPMT productivity goals.
      • Assist with training of health center staff as needed.
      • Participate in health center staff meetings.
      •  

        Compliance

        • Ensure compliance with all Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), National Abortion Federation and PPMT OPSS policies and standard operating procedures.
        • Ensure all PPFA and PPMT guidelines and protocols are followed regarding all services. (Including but not limited to medical standards and guidelines, customer standards, personnel, fiscal, risk management, safety/security, pharmacy and quality assurance).
        • Clients shall not be subject to coercion in use of any particular method of Family Planning.
        • Staff may be subject to prosecution if they coerce or they try to coerce any person to undergo abortion or sterilization procedures.

STANDARD REQUIREMENTS

  • Understands and works together as a team to meet PPMT productivity goals of 4 clients per hour per provider.  Productivity results for each center will be shared by your manager and staff monthly.
    • Understands the financial aspects of our business and maintains focus on cost effectiveness and ultimately stewardship.
    • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: safety and security, confidentiality, quality assurance, compliance with current laws and regulations including HIPAA and mandated reporting, and training.
    • Supports and participates in:

      • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations demonstrating compassion, empathy and dignity for all.
      • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers and patients regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns.
      • Promotes positive public image and relations of PPMT.
      • Completes requirements for acceptable attendance and timeliness to work, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene.
      • Performs other work duties as assigned.
